Leona Vetstein

 Leona (Fine) Vetstein, 85, of Boston and Falmouth, formerly of Newton and Brookline, passed away on April 24, 2014.

Born in Cambridge in 1928, Leona was a graduate of Brookline High School and Colby Junior College. She worked for many years at the Brandeis National Women’s Committee. Leona was the co-founder of the League School of Greater Boston, a school for children with autism and Asperger’s, and founder of the Friends of the League School. She was active in many charitable organizations in the Boston area.

Leona was the beloved wife of Dr. Arnold D. Vetstein, DDS of Boston and Falmouth, perfect mother to Richard A. Vetstein of Newton and Nancy Hershfield and her husband, Rob, of Sudbury. Devoted grandmother to Andrew. Cherished sister of Tina Mintz of Norton; Ralph I. Fine of Thetford, VT and Tucson, AZ; and the late Phil David Fine of Boston.

Services at Congregation Mishkan Tefila, 300 Hammond Pond Parkway, Chestnut Hill, MA on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at 1:00 PM. Following the burial in Temple Emeth Memorial Park, Baker St., West Roxbury, memorial observance will be held at her late residence from 4-8 PM and on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
