Jacob Richard Klein, 87, died peacefully on December 19, 2014 after spending several of his last weeks at home with family. Dick, as he was known by all, lived a great life from his childhood in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio to college at Ohio State first settling in Akron, Ohio with his first wife Jody and sons Andy and Jim. Dick and his family moved to Boston in 1974 to work for Stride Rite Corporation, retiring in 1994. Dick loved life in New England, spending summers in Maine sailing, bicycling and settling into the vibrant community of Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Deer Isle. In the years after he worked for Stride Rite Dick volunteered with Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) and Executive Service Corp (ESC), advising non-profits, small businesses, and startups companies. Dick also served on the board of the Brookline Foundation. After Jody died in 1999, Dick married Marcia Marcus and for fourteen years shared companionship and a mutual love of music, art, and travel. They often visited family and had memorable adventures to new places around the world. Dick Klein is survived by his wife, Marcia Marcus Klein of Brookline, MA; Andrew Klein of Peterborough, NH; Jim Klein and Elisabeth Lardner of Alexandria, VA; Andrew Marcus and Ethan Trask of New York NY; Elizabeth Marcus and Matthew Begun of New York, NY; Peter Marcus and Alex Keuroghlian of Boston, MA; and five grandchildren: Will Klein of San Francisco, CA; Ned Klein of New York NY; Nicola and Gideon Marcus-Trask of New York NY; and Sam Begun of New York, NY. Memorial service at Temple Israel, 477 Longwood Ave., Boston (parking on The Riverway) on Monday, December 22, 2014 at 10:30 am. Following the service, memorial observance will be at his residence until 4:00 pm & 6-8 pm, and will continue Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 pm.
