age 97, of Framingham, died Thursday, September 17, 2015 at his home. He survived his late wives Mary (Catalano) Serulneck, Irene (Blier) Serulneck, and Sylvia (Zimmerman) Serulneck.
Born in Brooklyn, NY on June 19, 1918, Mr. Serulneck retired to Framingham in 1983. He proudly served in Co M, 347th Infantry Regiment, 87th Infantry Division during WWII. He was a decorated combat veteran of the Ardennes, Central Europe, and the Rhineland. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star with “V” for valor recognizing his heroic achievement in action against an armed enemy of the United States near Brambach, Germany on March 25, 1945 and also received the Soldier’s Medal. Prior to his retirement he had careers in business and union organizing.
In Framingham Mr. Serulneck served as a Commander and Quartermaster of VFW Post 929, a member of the Board of Directors of SMOC, and volunteered to deliver Meals on Wheels well into his late 80’s.
Mr. Serulneck is survived by his sons Lester Serulneck of Northport, NY, and Larry Serulneck of Viera, FL, and his daughter Fern Y. Serrell of Brooklyn, NY. He was the proud grandfather of 7 and great-grandfather of 11. He is also survived by his friend for life, Sarah Cammarata.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services at Chabad Lubavitch Center, 159 Boden Lane, Natick on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow in the Framingham-Natick Jewish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the DAV or Cystic Fibrosis Association.
