Bess (Robinson) Ezekiel

Age 80, of Lexington and West Yarmouth, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2015. She was the dear wife of Fred for 59 years and wonderful mother of Karen (David Handmaker) of Louisville, KY and David (Elise Richman) of Bedford, MA, and caring grandmother of Maina, Orli, Hilana, Callan, Micah and Nili, and loving sister of Elsa of Ajijic, Mexico and Mark (Linda) of Milton, Vermont. Bess was born in Brookline on April 21, 1935 and graduated from Simmons College with two degrees. A lifelong learner, her warmth, generosity and wide range of interests and talents brought her many close friends and much joy.  She especially loved a good laugh, food and books of all kinds, doing crosswords in ink, a lively political debate and mastering complex needlework projects.  Her passions live on in the book club she started nearly 40 years ago and the Rosh Chodesh group she initiated at Temple Emunah, where she and Fred have been active members for more than 50 years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an Alzheimer’s research organization of your choice or to Temple Emunah’s Ladle Fund. The funeral will be at Temple Emunah, 9 Piper Rd., Lexington, MA 02421, on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 10 am, followed by burial at Westview Cemetery, Lexington, MA.  Shiva will be observed at her home in Lexington on Tuesday  3-5 pm and 7-9 pm with minyan at 7:45 pm; Wednesday  7-9 pm with minyan at 7:45 pm; Thursday 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm with minyan at 7:45 pm; Sunday  1-5 pm and 7-9 pm with minyan at 7:45 pm.  There will be morning minyan on Wed., Thurs., Fri. and Mon. at 7 am and on Sunday at 9 am.
