Passed away on December 24, 2015 at age 74. She was born in Cambridge, MA to parents Bernard G. and Dorothy V. Fritz and grew up in the town of Winthrop. She received her Bachelor’s Degree and was Cum Laude at the School of Fine and Applied Arts Boston University, studied at Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts for eight years, and attended graduate courses at Lesley College. During college, Diane taught drivers education courses at Andrews Auto School in South Boston. In addition she was lead performer and producer of a children’s radio show called “the Play Room” on WBUR FM. After college, she was the host of Romper Room and performed in various cities. Diane enjoyed teaching for more than 40 years. She was an art teacher in New Milford, CT and Carmel, NY Public Schools adult education program, an aid to special education students, an art teacher for various summer programs and at Temple Shalom. In between these occupations, she also was a substitute teacher in the public school system. Diane was vibrant, had numerous friends, and loved to experience historical, science, and artistic activities. Diane was married for 42 years and predeceased by her husband, Ken in 2014. She is survived by: her son Scott Steinberg, daughter-in-law Jessica and granddaughter Danielle; son Steve Steinberg, daughter-in-law Marci, and grandchildren Leah& Benjamin; son James Steinberg and daughter-in-law Sari; her brother Robert Fritz and sister-in-law Rosalind, nephew Ivan and Jen Fritz; niece Eve Fritz; sister-in-law Judith Peel; niece Michelle Fuhrman; and nephew Thomas Peel, his wife Nancy and their children Debra, Jen, and Michael.
