Rose Chalfin

Age 88, of Newton, died peacefully at her home, on November 8, 2016. Born in Boston on September 27, 1928 she grew up in Brookline, MA and was a graduate of Brookline High School. She went on to become a legal secretary and later became a homemaker and devoted her life to raising a loving family. While at home she decided to put her time into supporting youth athletics in Newton. She became the founding member of Newton Youth Soccer League and The Newton Girls Soccer League,which to this day still brings joy to thousands of young athletes.Beloved and devoted wife for 55 years of the late Harold Chalfin. Beloved sister of the late Faye Alberts and the late Joseph Kramer.  Devoted mother of April Chalfin and her husband, Preston Dortch of Lee MA, Mark Chalfin and his wife Beth of Palos Verdes, CA, and Beth Ravech and her husband Bruce of Needham, MA.  She was a proud and loving nana to five grandchildren: Jared and Alexa Ravech, Timmy Dortch, and Lila and Sadie Chalfin. Services at Temple Beth Shalom, 670 Highland Ave., Needham, MA on Friday, November 11, 2016 at 9:30am. Interment immediately following at Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon, MA.Memorial observance at the home of Beth and Bruce Ravech, Needham, MA immediately after services until 4:30 pm, and continuing Saturday evening 7pm-9pm and Sunday 11am-2pm.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 417005, Boston MA 02241-7005.
