Loren B. Squyres

Loren B. Squyres, 64, died on Tuesday, November 8th, 2016 at his home in Malden, MA. Loren was born on a ranch in Texas on September 5, 1952. Loren loved horses and anything to do with plants and animals.

After starting out living the small town life, Loren eventually made his way to the big city of Boston and settled in Brookline MA. He lived there for many years with his long time partner and eventual husband Byron. In 2015 Loren and Byron moved to Malden, MA.

Loren practiced his trade over 5 decades spanning the 1970’s through the present earning himself the title of Master Stylist & Colorist. Loren began working for the Dellaria Salon & Day Spa located in Newton Centre in 1993. Loren’s southern charm combined with his passion for color helped propel him to the upper echelon of stylists to have ever worked for Dellaria Salons. To stay on top of his game Loren would travel the country attending hair shows and seminars in places like New York, Miami or wherever they were to keep up with the latests trends, styles, and techniques. He loved sharing what he learned with his co-workers and clients.

Loren enjoyed watching movies, antiquing, and gardening. He adored beautiful jewelry and was the envy of all the women in his life with his diamond and sapphire studs, chains, watches, and antique pieces. He loved his greyhounds and his antiques, many of which he restored himself. He kept the salon grounds looking amazing with help from his annual planting of the spring flowers and year round maintenance.

Loren considered the salon, his clients, and his co-workers to all be his family. He remained close to fellow stylists long after they moved on. A man of few words, Loren enjoyed making people laugh and one could not help but gravitate towards his dry sense of humor.

Although illness struck him too soon and he suffered much over the last few years, Loren always did everything he could do to carry on, work through it, and keep positive. He was a kind and considerate person who will be sorely missed.
