Saul Komessar- age 92, of Newton, on June 2, 2017. Saul proudly enlisted to serve in WWII, and was an Officer and 1st Lieutenant Bombardier in the 5th Air Force 310th Bomb Wing, 22nd Bomb Group. Assigned to the Pacific Theatre, Mr. Komessar flew aboard a plane named the Liberty Belle II among the B24 Liberators. He flew 18 combat missions and was awarded 4 medals for his duty in the Pacific.He was the beloved husband of the late Alice S. Komessar. Devoted father of David Komessar and his wife Marilyn of Needham, MA, Debra Magier and her husband Gene of Newton, MA, Gary Davis and his wife Deborah of Deerfield Beach, FL, Lynne Davis and her husband Doug Tanner of Wendell, MA, and the late Dr. Ronald Davis and his surviving wife Nadine of East Lansing, MI. Cherished grandfather of Alex and Hallie Komessar, Amanda and Jordan Magier, Jeremy and Ben Davis, Leah Sanders and Jared, Evan and Connor Davis. Dear great-grandfather of Zakai Davis and Rassi and Evie Sanders. Loving brother of the late Sam Komessar of Chicago, IL and the late Sarah Tolpen of Columbus, OH. Services at Temple Beth Elohim, 10 Bethel Rd., Wellesley, on Monday, June 5, 2017 at 1:30 pm. Following interment at Beit Olam Cemetery, Wayland, memorial observance will be at the home of David and Marilyn Komessar, 17 Kerrydale Rd., Needham until 8:30 pm Monday and continuing Tuesday 6:30 – 8:30 pm.
