Gertrud (Tamar) was born in Vienna, Austria and emigrated to Israel through the Youth Aliyah in 1938 leaving her family behind. She was a true pioneer and fought for the establishment of the State of Israel. She worked as a nurse in the Detention Camp in Atlit. She later emigrated with her husband and daughters to the United States and lived here until her death but made many return trips to Israel where a lot of her family and her heart was. She spent many years volunteering for ORT. She loved needlework of all sorts and continued to work on projects until her last day. A true woman of valor she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
