Alan Richard Warkel, 88, of Mansfield, died January 15, 2018 at 9:45 am.To family and friends he was known as “Allie”.He was the son of the late Isaac and Bessie (Willinsky) Warkel and brother of the late Pearl Robie and late Diane Teller, all of Brockton. Born in Brockton, he remained a resident there for 76 years until his move to Mansfield in 2005. He wintered in Boynton Beach, Florida.
Alan was the devoted husband of the late Elaine S Warkel for nearly 50 years. He served in the Navy during the Korean war. He was the founder of Bristol Glass Corp. in Attleboro, established in 1960. His hobbies included bicycling, tennis, motorcycling, and sailing. Mostly he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Alan is survived by 2 daughters and their spouses: Gail Mackler and her husband Jay of Mansfield, Jayne Miller and her husband David of Foxboro; four grandchildren: Alex and Jared Mackler of Mansfield, Rachel Miller and her fiancé Jason Croteau of North Attleboro, and Lauren Anderson and her husband Erik of Somerville. He will be dearly missed by longtime companion, Jeanne Hirshberg, of Boynton Beach, FL.
Services will be held January 18, 2018 at 11:00 am at Temple Chayai Shalom, 239 Depot Street, Easton, MA.
