Spencer Denker

Spencer Denker, 67, of Framingham, MA, passed away on September 3, 2023. Cherished son of the late Hershel and Shirley (Rosen) Denker. Devoted and beloved brother of Carol and her husband Glen Schneider, Nancy Denker, and Cliff Denker and his wife Jill. Proud uncle of Hailey, Elyssa, Marisa, Julia and Rachel, and nephew of Larry Rosen.

He received wonderful love and care over the last many years at Eaton Road West in Framingham, a Venture Community Services Group Home. The staff went above and beyond in their support. At his day program, Advocates, his week was filled with activities and challenges including volunteering in the Meals on Wheels program. Through Advocates, he most recently worked at Burtons Grill in Framingham, and took much pride in earning a paycheck.

Spencer was one of those rare people who touched lives wherever he went. He evoked love, and those in his universe were enriched by his presence and were uplifted for having known him. Despite his many struggles, he remained cheerful, selfless and helpful, always interested in those around him.

Spencer loved music and could name and sing decades of hits from Broadway to Big Bands to rock and folk music going back to the 60s. His memory was extraordinary including names, faces and events. His presence always made people smile, and he was happily recognized wherever he went. 

Another special part of Spencer’s life was going on “Drew’s Trips,” which provided wonderful travel and entertainment experiences. He also loved going to Martha’s Vineyard and New Hampshire on vacations with his family.

Spencer’s parents and siblings always encouraged his independence and growth. As a result, he far exceeded all professional expectations. In fact, he even earned a High School diploma at Keefe Tech in Framingham, and had a Bar Mitvah at Temple Beth Am. He has never stopped learning and maturing. We are all so proud of him. Given all of his medical challenges, we feel so grateful for the 67 years we had with him.

The world is a better place because of his life. He will be sorely missed.
