Silver-Ernest A. formerly of Newton, MA and current resident of Delray Beach, FL, and Natick, MA passed away February 28, 2025. Beloved husband of Diane (Dinsfriend) Silver for 57 years. Devoted father of Andrea Burger and her husband Jeffrey, and Stephanie Hirshberg and her husband Philip. Proud grandfather of Ava and Sophie Burger, and Andrew and Joshua Hirshberg. Loving brother of the late Alfred, and Steven Silver.
Ernie was a longtime professor of Business Management at Curry College in Milton, MA. He loved teaching and took great pride in making personal and lasting connections with everyone he met. Ernie was an avid model train enthusiast and master model builder, spending countless hours creating miniature replicas with painstaking detail. His artistic and creative projects also included painting, drawing, and carpentry. A jack-of-all-trades, there was nothing Ernie couldn’t repair with his ingenuity and enormous tool collection. He owned Rome Brothers Hardware in Rockland, MA before pivoting his career to teaching full-time. Ernie very much enjoyed traveling globally with Diane and with loving friends. He loved to tell stories and had a great sense of humor.
Funeral service at Temple Emanuel, 385 Ward St., Newton, MA on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham St., Sharon, MA. Memorial observance will be held at the home at Stephanie and Philip Hirshberg, Thursday March 6th following the interment until 8pm, and on Friday March 7th from 4pm-8pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ernest’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
