James E. Labb

James E. Labb, 78, passed away on November 14, 2025. Born and raised in Newton, James “Jim” Labb grew up with a deep appreciation for his community and graduated from Newton High School. Throughout his life, he pursued several business endeavors, known for his work ethic, and creativity.

James was the son of Florence and Frank Labb, both of whom predeceased him. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ben Labb and sister in-law- Nancy Labb. He is survived by his loving companion, Julia Kochetkova, siblings Paul Labb and Nancy Nottonson, and her husband Peter Nottonson, who will remember him for his warmth, humor, and generous spirit.

James took great pride in his children Erica, Dana, and Courtney Labb, and grandchildren, Kaya, Logan, Isabelle, Ori, and Eden.

Music was one of James’ greatest passions. A true lover of the guitar, he especially cherished the timeless sounds of Motown, which filled him with joy throughout his life.

In keeping with the family’s wishes, services will be private. James will be remembered with love by all who knew him.
