Traiger- Myer “Ed”, of Newton MA, on February 11, 2013. Beloved husband of Leah (Brown) Traiger for 66 years. Devoted father of Richard Traiger and his wife Rosa, and Judith Traiger Abensohn and her husband Mark. Dear grandfather of Matthew and Evan Traiger. Loving brother of Frances Hurvitz. Ed owned and operated the Traiger Sheet Metal Roofing Co. for more than 50 years. He belonged to the Consolidated Masonic Lodge as a master mason for 44 years. He served his country in WWII, and fought in Bora Bora, New Caledonia, New Guinea, and the Philippines. Ed was commander of the Newton-Brookline Post 211 of Jewish war veterans for more than 15 years. A loyal and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he will be missed by family and friends. Services at Temple Reyim, 1860 Washington St., Newton, MA on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 1:30 pm. Following interment at Independent Pride of Boston Cemetery (Baker St., W. Roxbury), memorial observance will be at his late residence until 7 pm, and will continue Friday, 2-5 pm & Saturday 6-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America, 1811 R St., NW, Washington, DC 20009 or the charity of your choice.
