Marilyn S. Minevitz

Marilyn Minevitz, 85, passed away on October 22, 2012. Loving wife of the late Albert Minevitz, devoted mother of Bruce Minevitz of Hingham and Nancy Minevitz of Brookline. Dear grandmother of Ned and Jake Minevitz. Loving sister of the late Carol Harrison and aunt to Bonnie Wheelwright of Andover and Scott Harrison of Quincy. Niece of beloved aunt, Bella Goldstein, of Boston. Dear companion of Leonard Colten of Hull. She found great comfort in the support of her devoted friends Terri Cook, Adrienne Anastos, Lois Panetsos and Ginnie Capo as well as the caring staff of the Harbor House in Hingham where she spent her final years. Marilyn was a graduate of the Beth Israel Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1949 where she won the Ernestine Spitz Prager Prize. She valiantly inoculated hundreds of school children against polio during the 1950’s epidemic. She later served as a school nurse in her hometown of Hull.
She was an inspiration to her friends – always positive, radiant, and a trusted confidant who could keep a secret and avoid drama. An avid reader, world traveler, and aficionado of a good Broadway musical preceded by a delightful dinner. Interment on Thursday October 25 – 3:00 PM at Hull Village Cemetery will be private. Friends are cordially invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering on Thursday October 25, 2012 at Tosca, 14 North Street, Hingham from 4:30 to 7:00 PM. Donations in Marilyn’s name may be made to The Beth Israel Hospital Nurses Alumnae Association, 330 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215
