Hyman Fishman

Hyman Fishman, age 91, died on January 15, 2011 at Baypointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brockton, following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Esther F. (Borstell) for 64 years.

Born in Maynard, MA, a son of the late Henry and Mary Fishman, Mr. Fishman had lived in Brockton for 53 years. As a boy Hyman was a Boy Scout and became an Eagle Scout. He served as a  1^st Lieutenant in WWll. He later worked for many years at the Boston Naval Shipyard as a liaison between ship and shore, retiring in 1988. He is the father of Lana and Robert Preston, Robert and Judith Fishman, MaryEllen Briggs of Brockton, Widow of the late Charles Briggs. He was the loving grandfather to Carl and Mary Preston, Rachel and Theodore Law Jr.,Jennifer and Richard Perez,Emily Fishman,Tim Briggs and Adam and Jenifer Briggs. Great Grandfather of 8 and Godfather to William Fishman. He is survived by his sisters Sarah Fine of Hull, and Sylvia Katler of Randolph, and his brother Milton and wife Rosalie of Hull. He was also the brother to the late Abraham, Eva, Dora, Reuben and Philip Fishman. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Temple Beth Emunah, Pearl Street, Brockton on Monday, January 17 at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at the Ohavei Sedeck Cemetery, Grove Street, West Roxbury. Shiva will be held at the home of Robert and Judith Fishman.
