Louis M. Geller

GELLER, Louis M., 96, of Lasell Village in Auburndale and formerly of Brookline, on August 16, 2019. Husband of Mona, father of Lynne and Gary. Lou worked all his professional life as a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst in private practice, a field he loved. He was a proud member of the Boston Psychoanalytic Institute, and created and managed original art displays for their Back Bay office. This was truly “a labor of love”, as he loved the visual arts and collected art work all his life. He was a veteran of World War II. Born in New York, he moved to Lawrence, MA as a teenager, where he lived with his parents and brother, William, and sister, Selma, with extended family close by. Family was the single most important thing in his life. Graveside service will be held on Wednesday August 21 at 1:00 pm at the Pride of Lynn Cemetery, Lake Shore Rd., Lynn. Following interment family and friends are invited to gather at Lasell Village, 85A Seminary Ave., in The Rogers Classroom from 3:30-5:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lou’s memory may be sent to the American Civil Liberties Union Foundation, 125 Broad Street, 18th Floor, New York, NY 10004.

Sandra V. (Shraiar) Abel

Sandra Vera (Shraiar) Abel, Sunday, August 18, 2019. She was 81. Sandra was born in Boston, daughter of the late Samuel Shraiar and Beatrice (Mayser) Shraiar. Wife of the late Herschel Abel. Mother of Allison Henkel and her husband Roger, and Erik Abel. Grandmother of Luke and Baily Henkel. She was the past president of Women’s American ORT, vice president and assistant treasurer of TBA Randolph and town meeting member for 30 years. Service at B’nai Tikvah, 1301 Washington St. Canton, MA on Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at 11:00 am. Following interment at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham St., Sharon, MA, shiva will be held at the Simon C. Fireman Community, Card Room, 640 North Main Street, Randolph, MA 8:30 pm and Thursday, August 22, 2019 at the Simon C. Fireman Community, at Sandra’s late residence from 2-4:00 pm and 7-9:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sandra’s memory may be made to B’nai Tikvah or the charity of your choice.

Marybeth (Ostroger) Bencic

Marybeth Bencic, Wednesday, August 14, 2019. Daughter of Beverly H. (Lerner) Ostroger and the late Joseph G. Ostroger. Sister of Sharon J. Kenny and her husband Bill. Aunt of Jake Kenny and Krystall and Ashley Vincent.

Marybeth was a passionate Special Education teacher in the Malden Public Schools for many years.

Service at Wilson Chapel, 234 Herrick Road, Newton Centre, on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 12 noon. Burial will be private. Following service family and friends are invited to a remembrance luncheon and gathering at the Newton Mariott, 2345 Commonwealth Ave., Newton, MA until 5 pm.

Irwin R. Macey

Macey, Irwin R., of Lexington, MA, on August 9, 2019. Beloved husband of Sandra (Segal) Macey. Devoted father of Andy Macey and his wife Kimberly, and Jon “Jamey” Macey. Proud grandfather of Caleb and Hannah Macey.

Irwin graduated BU and attended BU Law School. He served in the Korean War from 1953-1954 in the Counter Intelligence Corps., and subsequently the State Dept. Intelligence Unit. After his gov’t service, he practiced criminal law for 10 years and served as Magistrate in the Suffolk Superior Criminal Court. He was also certified to practice law in the courts of MA, the First Federal District Court, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Since his retirement he served as President of the Military Intelligence Association of New England, and was a 3 time past master of the BU Masonic Lodge. He was also a long time member of the Simon W. Robinson Lodge in Lexington, MA.

Services at Temple Isaiah, 55 Lincoln St., Lexington, MA, on Monday, August 12, 2019 at 1:00 pm. Following interment at Beit Olam East cemetery, 42 Concord Rd., Wayland, MA, memorial observance will be at the family residence until 8:00 pm, continuing Tuesday 1-4 & 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Irwin’s memory may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, NE Chapter, 70 Walnut St., #301, Wellesley, MA 02481, or the Simon W. Robinson Masonic Lodge, c/o Angel Fund, 3 Bedford St., Lexington, MA 02420.
