Jeffrey Alexander Greenberg of Weston, MA, died peacefully on September 24, 2017. Beloved son of Lawrence and Beth Greenberg, cherished big brother of Lindsay, grandson of Marilyn Goodman and the late Jack Greenberg, and Emory and Donna Geller, adored nephew of Beth Deborah Greenberg, Barbara Bentley Wolfe, and Scott, Mark, and the late Randy Geller. He is also survived by his first cousins, Jordan, Spencer, Craig, Ava, Levi, and Kai. Jeffrey received his undergraduate degree from The University of Pennsylvania and his Master’s Degree from Ohio State University, focusing on neuropsychology and memory research. He enjoyed working for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston in outcomes measurement for the past two years. Jeffrey took up guitar and drums in high school after a brief stint with the cello in fourth grade. He enjoyed listening to progressive metal and composing electronic music. He was an avid and skilled video gamer, and he possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of gritty television dramas and comedies that he shared voluminously with anyone who would listen. He had recently finished writing a dystopian fantasy, which he was looking forward to seeing made into the next Netflix blockbuster. As early as kindergarten, Jeffrey’s teachers reported that he had a calming influence on the class that was greatly missed when he was absent. He was a great listener and an insightful friend. Cherished grandfather of Evan, Dylan, Samantha, Kayla, Aurore, Tristan, Gabriel, and Raphael. Also survived by his beloved toy poodle, “Griffin”. Funeral services will be private. Grossack, David Charles, Esq., of Hull, Massachusetts, on September 20, 2017, erev Rosh Hashanah.

David is survived by his mother, Judith (Trachtenberg) Grossack, brother and sister-in-law, Richard (Rocky) Grossack and Jori Ceder Grossack, nephews, Samuel, Adam, and Zachary Grossack, and long-time partner, Joan Shuman.

David succumbed to a hard fought battle with heart and kidney failure despite the superhuman efforts of the amazingly compassionate and dedicated staff of the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, MA.

David was, first and foremost, a passionate man. Several locales held special significance to him: He loved walking the beach in his hometown of Hull; he loved visiting his birthplace of Hawaii, returning there frequently to vacation; He was especially passionate about Israel, its people, history, customs, and even geography (David loved spending as much time as possible floating in the Dead Sea).

Career-wise, David was passionate about the law and serving his clients. There was no topic or client too controversial for David to vigorously defend. One notable legal issue for which he passionately worked were fathers in marital disputes who were summarily denied child custody and visitation rights in ex parte proceedings (without the right to present their sides of the issue). David represented this group despite public biases against them.

David’s hobbies included creating artwork and researching (and discussing) history, current events, and geopolitical issues.

Lastly, David was most passionate about his family, doting on his three nephews and their accomplishments. He was lovingly connected to his significant other, Joan, and her brothers, Charlie, David, and Steven. David called his sister-in-law, “Sis” and enjoyed wonderfully close relationships with both his mother and brother.

David made a positive impact on many lives and will be dearly missed.

Funeral services for David Grossack will be held on Sunday, September 24^th at 11:45 am at Temple Reyim, 1860 Washington St., Newton, MA. Shiva will be held immediately thereafter at the temple and continue until 8:30 pm.

Jeanette (Selib) Bolan

At age 105, of Newton, on September 18, 2017. Beloved wife of the late Samuel Bolan, MD. Mother of Henry & Barbara Bolan, Eliot Bolan & Susan Korn and James Bolan & Lynne Lieberman. Grandmother of Marc Bolan, Geoffrey Bolan, step-grandmother of Rebecca Parker & Joshua Korn. Great-grandmother of Eli Bolan, Ella Bolan, Benjamin Bolan, Caleb Bolan and Nathanial Parker-Blake. Loving sister of Charlotte Frank, the late Anne Rothstein and the late Herbert Selib. Jeanette was one of the earliest graduates of the Mass. College of Art. She was an accomplished portrait artist, lifelong bridge player, avid reader, skilled master of handcrafts, exceptional cook and lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox. Graveside service was held on Wednesday September 20, 2017 at Congregation Mishkan Tefila Cemetery, West Roxbury, MA. A celebration of Jeanette’s life will be held in the Spring of 2018. Honorable Herbert Abrams,retired Justice of the Superior Court of Massachusetts, died peacefully at his home in Brookline on September 9, 2017. Beloved husband of Joan Miller Abrams, loving father of Richard Bruce Miller Abrams and adored grandfather of Michael Ian Miller Abrams. Son of the late Hyman and Leah Abrams and brother of the late Dr. Jerome Abrams, all of Plainfield, NJ. Judge Abrams received his undergraduate degree from The University of Virginia, his JD from Rutgers Law School and his LLM from Northeastern University School of Law. Prior to his appointment to the Superior Court bench in 1979, Judge Abrams was a trial attorney for 27 years. During this period he served as an Assistant District Attorney of Norfolk County, and as Special Assistant Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for five consecutive Attorney Generals, both Democrat and Republican. He was also the author of the Massachusetts Lawyers Diary and Manual (better known as “The Red Book”). Judge Abrams was a Selectman in the Town of Brookline from 1970-1976. Long active in civic and charitable endeavors, he served as President of the Jewish Vocational Service and the Boston Chapter of The American Jewish Historical Society. Private memorial services were held.
