Sandra F. (Marder) Hurwitz

July 23, 2017

Hurwitz- Sandra F. (Marder), the ever-joyful, 79, of Natick, MA died July 22, 2017 surrounded by her family after fighting cancer. She leaves behind her husband of 57 years, Joseph Hurwitz and their children; Steven and his partner Helene Fakhery, Alan and his wife Cornelia Hurwitz, David, and Ann Hurwitz and her husband Michael Carey. She also leaves her grandchildren Julia, Olivia, Aaron, Joshua, Nick, and Emily, as well as her wonderful sister Carolyn (Marder) Miller of Pittsford, NY (and her husband Marvin Miller) with whom she shared a nightly chat and martini.  There are countless people who think of Sandy as a second mother, grandmother and aunt, who will miss her like family.

Sandy treasured life and family, her optimism only overshadowed by her immense capacity for love.

After working for many years as a physical therapist at the Recuperative Center in Boston and helping so many to regain their wellness, she retired to a life full of activities she enjoyed the most. She copied the masters and created paintings, played mahjong, did yoga, played the piano, traveled and was part of a neighborhood book club. She sang with the A Capella Singers for 50 years in Natick, and the Bay Chorale in Florida. She would “bop” to anything with a beat.

A funeral service will be held Monday, July 24,2017 at 12 noon in the Chapel at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham St., Sharon, MA. Shiva will be held following the service and again on Tuesday and Wednesday at her Natick residence  1-4 & 7-9 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dana Faber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.

Jacquelin Lee

July 23, 2017

Jacquelin Lee, of Natick, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, died July 23, 2017, at the age of 84, with her daughter Anne by her side, after a valiant fight against lung cancer. Until the very end, Jackie lived life on her own terms, proud and dignified. She leaves behind her daughter Anne Sobhoff, Anne’s husband, Todd Jardin, her son Peter Steinfield, her granddaughters Maye Sobhoff, and Madelyn Steinfield, and her sister, Patricia Caldwell.

Jackie was a woman of so many talents. Eloquent and elegant, an artist and pianist, with a remarkable ear for music.  She was known as an Executive Administrator “Extraordinaire” who dedicated much of her career as Registrar of the School of Environmental Studies at Yale University. Upon her retirement from her last role at Stoel Rives, the largest law firm in Oregon, three full time employees were needed to replace her.  Jackie was known and admired for her efficiency, incredible sense of humor and her devotion to her granddaughter, Maye.

When Jackie’s daughter, Anne, gave birth to Maye, Jackie relocated from the West Coast, to share in the joy and responsibility of raising lovely Maye. She was reserved and reclusive by nature; but when she chose to share herself with others, she was always gracious and kind and left an impression of gentleness, deep intelligence and dignity.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A funeral service will be held at Congregation Or Atid, 97 Concord Rd., Wayland, on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 1:30 pm.  Shiva will follow the service at the home of Anne Sobhoff and Todd Jardin, 12 Oak Knoll Road, Natick.  Shiva will continue on Friday from 1 pm – 5pm.

Jackie loved flowers! Additionally, remembrances in Jacquelin’s honor may be made to the Lung Cancer Foundation of America or the MSPCA. Arrangements under the direction of Brezniak-Rodman Funeral Directors – brezniak-staging.fsf6vvja-liquidwebsites.com
