Shirley (Greenstein) Shapiro, 88, of Chestnut Hill, formerly of Haverhill, MA, entered into rest on December 18, 2014. Cherished wife of the late Herbert Shapiro of Newton, MA. Beloved mother of Judge Richard Shapiro of Los Angeles, CA and Carol Schmidt and her husband Andrew of Poughkeepsie, NY. Sister of Merton Greenstein and his late wife Eileen of Chestnut Hill, MA. Shirley was a devoted grandmother to her two granddaughters, Beth Matthews and her husband Giles of Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, and Michelle Schmidt of New York, NY. Also survived by her great-grandson Jacob Matthews. Graveside service at  Lindwood Memorial Park, 490 North St., Randolph, MA on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at 11:00 am. Family and friends are invited to gather at Shirley’s late residence in the Chestnut Hill Towers North Community Room, 250 Hammond Pond Parkway, following interment until 6:00 pm. Poras-Marietta (Rosen) of Lancaster and Wayland, formerly of Vienna, Austria on December 19, 2014. Beloved wife of the late Harry H. Poras MD. Devoted mother of Dr. Joseph Poras and his wife Linda of Framingham and Peter Poras and his wife Patti of Newton. Dearest grandmother of Marlo Poras and her husband Paul Chan, Jason Poras, David Poras and his wife Jenna, Steffany Doolittle and her husband Peter, Todd Pauling and his wife Sarah, and Dana Neitzel and her husband David. Beloved great-grandmother of nine great-grandchildren and half sister of the late Kitty Lundy of Toronto, Canada. Services at Congregation Shaarei  Zedeck, 105 Water Street, Clinton, on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Worcester Hebrew Cemetery. Jacob Richard Klein, 87, died peacefully on December 19, 2014 after spending several of his last weeks at home with family.  Dick, as he was known by all, lived a great life from his childhood in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio to college at Ohio State first settling in Akron, Ohio with his first wife Jody and sons Andy and Jim.  Dick and his family moved to Boston in 1974 to work for Stride Rite Corporation, retiring in 1994.  Dick loved life in New England, spending summers in Maine sailing, bicycling and settling into the vibrant community of Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Deer Isle.  In the years after he worked for Stride Rite Dick volunteered with  Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) and  Executive Service Corp (ESC), advising non-profits, small businesses, and startups companies.  Dick also served on the board of the Brookline Foundation. After Jody died in 1999, Dick married Marcia Marcus and for fourteen years shared companionship and a mutual love of music, art, and travel.  They often visited family and had memorable adventures to new places around the world.  Dick Klein is survived by his wife, Marcia Marcus Klein of Brookline, MA; Andrew Klein  of Peterborough, NH; Jim Klein and Elisabeth Lardner of Alexandria, VA; Andrew Marcus and Ethan Trask of New York NY; Elizabeth Marcus and Matthew Begun of New York, NY; Peter Marcus and Alex Keuroghlian of Boston, MA; and five grandchildren: Will Klein of San Francisco, CA; Ned Klein of New York NY; Nicola and Gideon Marcus-Trask of New York NY; and Sam Begun of New York, NY. Memorial service at Temple Israel, 477 Longwood Ave., Boston (parking on The Riverway) on Monday, December 22, 2014 at 10:30 am. Following the service, memorial observance will be  at his residence until 4:00 pm & 6-8 pm, and will continue Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 pm.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the “Richard Klein/ICU Nursing Special Fund” Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Office of Development, 330 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215.

Sandra (Sandy) Kivenko

Peacefully, in Boston, Massachusetts, on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, with her beloved son, Lee Feldman at her side. Beloved wife of the late Norman Stein of Palm Beach, Florida, who died on Wednesday, December 3 in Rome, Italy. Daughter of the late Saul and the late Esther Kivenko. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Lee Feldman and Yukiko Taniguchi, and the late Judd Feldman. Stepmother of Daniel and Laura Stein. Cherished grandmother of Hunter Solomon Pasenow; Mika Sol and Coco Esther Feldman. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Jack and Linda Kivenko, Stan and Candice Kivenko. age 86, of Delray Beach, FL, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 11, 2014, after a heroic battle with kidney disease. Formerly of Chestnut Hill & West Newton, MA, she made Florida her home, living at Gleneagles Country Club & Abbey Delray. Loving mother of Dr. Steven Finn & wife Terry of Boynton Beach, FL, William Finn & wife Melissa of Reading, MA, and Jonathan Finn of New York, NY. Dear sister of Martin Karas & wife Sandra of Palm Beach, FL & Falmouth, MA. Cherished grandmother of Heather, Alyson, Benjamin & Rachel. Nieces, nephews, cousins, & the numerous friends she made through her inspiring life also loved her dearly. Predeceased by husbands Harold Finn, Irving Harris and Albert Mezoff.
