Michael Lewis Dorfman

age 89, of Needham, Massachusetts, passed away on December 10, 2025, at NewBridge on the Charles.

Michael was predeceased by his beloved wife, Linda Dorfman, with whom he shared a life of devotion, partnership, and community service. He is survived by his loving children: Mark Dorfman (Laura), Peter Dorfman (Trisha), and Julia Schiff (Eric). He was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather to Kristie Guevremont (Nate Guevremont, son Finn), Sam Dorfman (Taylor Milne), Kyle Dorfman, Jennifer Dorfman (Nate Jenkins), Nicole Dorfman, Bailey Schiff, Lynn Dorfman, and Lily Schiff.

Michael served honorably in the United States Army before beginning a long career in the hospitality industry. After working with his father-in-law at the Irving Levitt Meat Company, he went on to own and operate Boylston’s at Chestnut Hill, originally known as The Steak Place, for more than 20 years. Working alongside his son Mark and business partners, Michael helped create a lasting sense of community and belonging for customers and coworkers alike. He was widely known for his generosity, kindness, and deep respect for those around him.

Together with Linda, Michael was a founding member of Temple Aliyah in Needham. He was a loyal and generous friend and, above all, a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Funeral service at 12:30 PM on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Temple Aliyah, 1664 Central Avenue, Needham, MA 02492. Burial to follow at approximately 2:00 PM at Baker Street Jewish Cemetery, 776 Baker Street, West Roxbury, MA 02132. Shiva/Reception at 3:00 PM at the Needham Golf Club, 49 Green Street, Needham, MA 02492.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael’s memory to the John M. Barry Boys & Girls Club of Newton.
