Bessye Phoebe Ravelson, Age 96, of Dedham, MA, formerly of Worcester, MA, and Brookline, MA. Born in Clinton, MA. Passed peacefully on November 20, 2015. Devoted mother of Edward Ravelson and his wife Patti Kinzer, Scott Ravelson and his wife Elaine. Cherished grandmother of Cory, Jennie and Benjamin Ravelson. Daughter of the late E. Samuel and Edith Bedrick. Loving sister of the late Louis, David, and Gertrude Bedrick. Bessye was a Graduate of Clinton High school, and Leeland Powers College of Speech and Drama. Upon the death of her father, she postponed her career in the Arts to return to Clinton, MA. She ran her family specialty clothing store, E S Bedrick, until she married.  Bessye continued her professional life in the retail clothing business until she retired in her 80’s. Bessye devoted much of her time to charitable organizations, and became a life time Member of the Brandeis University National Women’s Committee, the Worcester Ladies Auxiliary for the Jewish Home for the Aged, as well as a former Board member of the National Council of Jewish Women, and a consultant to the National Board of Thrift Shops, a former Board officer of Temple Emanuel Sisterhood and the Worcester Jewish Community Center. Services will be held Sunday, Nov 22, 2015 at 1:30 pm at The Wilson Chapel, 234 Herrick Rd., Newton Centre,MA.,

 

Following the interment at Beit Olam Cemetery,60 Old Sudbury Rd.,Wayland,  memorial observance will be at the home of Scott and Elaine Ravelson from 6 -9pm , and Monday 2-4  & 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Newbridge on the Charles, c/o Hebrew Senior Life, Development Office, 1200 Centre St., Roslindale, MA. 02131.
