Of West Newton, on November 17, 2016. Beloved wife of the late Howard Borr. Devoted mother of David Borr and his wife Laurie, and Nancy Borr. Caring grandmother of Michael, Amy, and Eric Borr, and Adam and Jennifer Bouché. Great-grandmother of Jordan Borr. Loving sister of Raymond Riseberg and his wife June, the late Robert Riseberg, and the late Gladys Melamed.
Byla Borr spent her earliest years in Waltham and Newton. She served as both a buyer and a saleswoman with Riseberg’s of Waltham, investing her time and energy into her family’s business. In May of 1956, she married businessman Howard Borr. Together they began a family. They first lived in Belmont before returning to West Newton, where Byla would live for the rest of her years. In her later days, she remained active and engaged, attending local gym classes and playing bridge with her friends. She cherished the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandson. She was a long-time member of the Beth El Temple Center in Belmont. For all that she accomplished in her life, her legacy will remain the impression of love that she has left upon her family and all those by whom she was surrounded in her life.
After a private ceremony, the family will receive guests at her home on Monday, November 21 from 6-8 pm. Expressions may be made in her memory to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215 or www.dana-farber.org.
