David A. Banker

of Framingham, MA, passed away on December 31st 2016 surrounded by his loved ones.  A devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and cousin; he voluntarily served his country in time of war and went on to raise a loving family.

David leaves behind his loving wife of 61 years, Rhea, and son Robert and wife Cindy, of Framingham, daughter Susanne Drugge and husband David of Bolton, and son Jeffrey and wife Donna of Needham, and grandchildren Brandon, Samantha, Max, Hanna, Sydney and Kyle.

David graduated from Long Island University in 1951, and went on to serve as a LT Commander in the Korean War through July 3rd 1956, on the USS RUFF Minesweeping ship.  After his stint in the Navy, he went on to become a very successful Retail Executive and Venture Capitalist.  David began his retailing career at Abraham & Straus in New York, and then moved on to become a VP at Zayre Corp, and later President of Lechmere Sales in Cambridge, MA.  In the following years, David was President of Winstar Communications, President of Buxton Leathergoods and ultimately finding his passion as a Venture Capitalist and Real Estate investor.  David was an extremely loyal, generous and devoted friend and father who touched many people’s lives and whose inspiration will be passed on through future generations of the Banker family.

Services will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at 1PM at Temple Or Atid, 97 Concord Rd., Wayland. Following interment at Beit Olam East Cemetery in Wayland, memorial observance will be held at the Banker residence Tuesday 4-8 pm and Wednesday  1-3 and 6:30-9 pm. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests donations be made in David’s memory to Disabled American Veterans and Make A Wish foundation.
