Dolores M. “Sis” (Mooney) Rose, 92, a lifelong resident of Truro passed away peacefully on August 20, 2016 at Seashore Point in Provincetown. She was the beloved wife of Norman F. Rose who passed away in 2011 and with whom she shared 52 years of marriage.

Daughter of the late Francis and Agnes Mooney, “Sis” was educated locally and graduated from Provincetown High School. Along with Norman, “Sis” owned and operated The Dairy King in Truro, the Truro Laundromat, and Norm Rose’s Lower Cape Ice.  Always dedicated to her local community, “Sis” managed the AIM Thrift Shop in Wellfleet for many years as well as a founder of the Truro Council on Aging.  She was devoted to Our Lady of Lourdes Church and was a recipient of the Diocese of Fall River Marian Medal.  “Sis” was also one of the people responsible for beautifying the intersections of Truro with beautiful wildflowers for many years.

“Sis” was the beloved mother of Douglas F. Rose and his wife Karen of Wilton NY and Truro and the cherished grandmother of Shannon and Aidan. She was the sister of Arthur P. Mooney of Newport, RI, Denis Mooney and his wife Carol of Truro, and George “Malcolm” Mooney and his wife Janet of Truro; sister-in-law of Elmer Rose of Texas and sister-in-law Mary Lou Rose of Truro, and the late Austin “Ozzie” Rose and George Rose. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. She was pre-deceased by her sister Marguerite “Peg” Krumpelbeck and her brother Francis “Brud” Mooney, Jr.

Dolores’ family sincerely appreciates the outstanding care and treatment rendered to her while living at Pleasant Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brewster and Seashore Point in Provincetown.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter the Apostle Church, 11 Prince St., Provincetown, on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 10:00 am. Private burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Truro will be held at a later date. Those wishing to remember “Sis” may do so through memorial donations to the Truro Council on Aging, P.O. Box 500, Truro, MA 02666 or to a charity of one’s own choosing.
