Dr. Irving Wolf

Dr. Irving Wolf, 89, of Wayland, formerly of Newton, passed away on March 8, 2014 at the Metro West Medical Center in Framingham.  He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth P. (Haughey) Wolf with whom he shared 64 years of marriage.

The son of the late Samuel and Anna (Tornansky) Wolf, he was born and raised in New Haven, CT.

Dr. Wolf was inducted into the United States Army in 1943 and served with the I & E Western Base division in Northern France during WWII.  He received the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and the American Theater Service Medal prior to being honorably discharged in 1946.  Upon returning from military service, Dr. Wolf attended Boston University earning his doctorate in psychology in 1954.

Following graduation he served in administration and treatment of children and adults for several years before returning to Boston University as Professor of Psychology.  During his 16 years at BU he served as chair of several programs including directorship of the graduate program in clinical psychology.

In addition to his wife, Dr. Wolf is survived by daughter Susan Abrams and husband Jacques, sons Richard Wolf and wife Denise, Robert Wolf, and William Wolf.  In addition he leaves four grandchildren, Michelle Abrams, and Steven, Jessica and Rachel Wolf

Funeral service in the Brezniak-Rodman Chapel, 1251 Washington St. (at Chestnut St.) WEST NEWTON, on March 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.  Burial with military honors will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland.  Following interment, guests are invited to gather at the clubhouse at The Hills at Mainstone in Wayland.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
