Dr. Lawrence Baker-, of Brookline, on September 20, 2010.Devoted Husband and best friend for 54 years of Phyllis L. ( Sheinfeld) Baker.Proud father of Jonathan S. Baker and his wife Anita M. Mosner of Bethesda,MD, Dr. Elissa Baker Gittes and her husband Dr. George Gittes of Pittsburgh, PA, and Elizabeth Baker Jacobi and her husband Will of Kensington, MD. Adoring grandfather of Grant and Gregory Gittes, Emily and Justin Baker, Sara and Jared Jacobi. Dear brother of the late Isabelle Hurwitz .Devoted uncle of Sandra Hurwitz. Special family friend of Joyce Hinds and caregivers Kathy Coyle and Margaret Quinn. Dr. Baker graduated Boston Latin School and attended Boston University.He was a graduate of Harvard Dental School Class of 1954 and Harvard Medical School Class of 1956. He was a Clinical Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Associate in Medicine at Beth Israel Hospital , Courtesy Staff at Mount Auburn Hospital, member of The Mass Medical Society, Norfolk District Society, Greater Boston Medical Society , Brookline Medical Society, and an active member and past participant of the American Society of Law in Medicine. Dr. Baker was very involved with the Massachusetes Academy of Trial Lawyers, Mass Bar Association concerning Medicine and Law.Dr. Baker was a member of the Ezekiel Council at Harvard Medical School and past treasurer of Harvard Medical School class of 1956. He was a Captain in the U.S. Army from 1957-59.Services at Temple Israel , 477 Longwood Ave. Boston (Attendant parking on The Riverway) on Wednesday September 22, 2010 at 12:00 noon. Following interment at Sharon Memorial Park ,family and friends are invited to the Sheraton Needham Hotel,100 Cabot St. Needham until 4:30 pm Wednesday. Memorial observance will be held at his residence Saturday evening 7-9pm. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to Harvard Medical School , Class of 1956 , 401 Park Drive , Boston, MA 02215.
