Dr. Lois Swack

Age 86, of Needham , on June 21, 2013. Beloved wife of Harvey Swack. Dr. Lois Swack studied social work at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio and received her PhD from Antioch College. Dr. Swack worked at Brandeis University for 12 years,helping place graduate students in social service agencies throughout the Boston area, before retiring in 1990.In retirement, she helped prepare non-English speaking people to become citizens by providing instruction in reading and speaking English.Dr. Swack loved playing flute, listening to classical music and gardening.She is survived by her three children,Judith,Michael,Terry and their spouses and 4 grandchildren. Services at Temple Shalom , 175 Temple St.,  West Newton,on Sunday June 23 at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to The  Massachusetts Horticultural Society, 900 Washington Street
