Gertrude (Budish) Niman WORCESTER – Gertrude (Budish) Niman, 98, died on Friday, June 29th in the Jewish Healthcare Center. Her husband of 32 years, Arvey “Pinky” Niman died in 1978. She leaves her children, Nancy wife of Steven Epstein of Worcester and Paul Niman and his wife Debbie of West Newbury, MA; her grandchildren, Jill Epstein wife of Chris Higgins of Framingham, Matt Epstein and his wife Shauna of Boston, Joshua Niman and his wife Rebecca of Belmont, MA and Aaron Niman and his wife Upaasna of Washington, DC, and her great grandchildren, Olivia, Chase and Ayden. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Elizabeth Sawyer and Nahama Budish. She was known as “Giddy” and was born in Worcester on May 21, 1914, a daughter of Jacob and Rebecca (Freezon) Budish and was a lifelong resident, residing on Vassar St. for most of her life. She graduated from Classical High School and had attended Syracuse University and Boston University. She married Arvey “Pinky” Niman in 1946, while he was on leave from serving in the Army during World War II. She was an avid tennis player and golfer, who regularly won the Women’s Golf Championship at Mt. Pleasant Country Club in Boylston. She was a lifelong member of Temple Emanuel. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Gertrude’s family would like to thank the entire staff of the Jewish Healthcare Center, especially those associated with the fifth floor, for their kind and compassionate care of their mother. GRAVESIDE FUNERAL SERVICES will be held at 3 PM on MONDAY, JULY 2ND, in B’NAI BRITH CEMETERY on St. JOHN’S RD.. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jewish Healthcare Center, 629 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA, 01609. Memorial Observance will be announced at the time of the funeral service.
