Lawrence Litwak

Lawrence Litwak,-December 30, 2016, in Newton, Mass. A much-admired man, who was charming, warm, and witty, Larry was the beloved husband of Deborah Faber and devoted father of Katy Litwak of Brighton and Jesse Chernis-Grant (Robyn Chernis-Grant) and grandfather of Rebecca and Lily Chernis-Grant, all of Needham. A graduate of Princeton University (1970) and Harvard Law School (1973), Larry was a highly esteemed, talented attorney who practiced in Boston for nearly 40 years. As a partner at Brown Rudnick and then of counsel at Foley & Lardner LLP, he played a pivotal role in mergers and transactions that helped reshape the health care industry landscape in Boston, including the merger that formed Boston Medical Center. Larry grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, the son of Daniel and Geraldine Litwak. He was an avid tennis and squash player. He treasured his court time and camaraderie at the Newton Squash & Tennis Club, a local institution, where he was a member for many years until illness interrupted. Larry enjoyed books and cinema, travel with Debby, and socializing with his wide circle of friends. But above all, Larry treasured spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and the rest of his enormous, close-knit family, including his sister Susan Schmier (Louis), his late sister Deborah Mixer (Mike), his sister-in-law Kathryn Marunick, his sisters-in-law Joan Faber (Jeff Brewer) and Carol Johnson (Roger), his Uncle Eugene Litwak (Eleanor) and Uncle Leo Litwak, and dozens of nieces and nephews and cousins.Service will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at 11:00am at Newton Cemetery Chapel at 791 Walnut St. Newton Centre, MA.Following Interment at Newton Cemetery People are invited to gather immediately afterward at the Faber/Johnson home at 65 Gray Cliff Road in Newton Centre, MA.  Shiva will be at the home of Debby Faber and Larry Litwak on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5:00pm and 8:00pm.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lewy Body Disease Association at https://www.lbda.org/.
