Linda (Lofchie) Simons, 76, of Woodstock, CT, formerly of Randolph, MA, died on November 6, 2013 at New Bridge on the Charles in Dedham. She was the beloved wife of the late S. Paul Simons who passed away in 2004.
Born in Boston, daughter of the late Leo and Doris (Appel) Lofchie, Mrs. Simons was raised in the Dorchester section of Boston. She was educated in the Boston Public Schools and graduated from Girls Latin School in 1955. She earned her B.S. degree in Engineering and Math from Northeastern University in 1960 and her M.S. degree in Applied Management from Lesley College in 1985. Mrs. Simons was employed as a Quality Assurance Engineer for the Boston Edison Company for many years. Very involved in her community, she was a former chairperson of the Randolph Planning Board, member of the Randolph Democratic Town Committee, past president of the Randolph chapter of Hadassah, member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of Temple Beth Am in Randolph. She was also a past president of her temple in Woodstock, CT. A proud Democrat, Mrs. Simons was honored to attend the Democratic National Convention that nominated Barack Obama to become the 44th President of the United States. In her retirement she enjoyed traveling, playing golf, producing beautiful glass pieces of art, making jewelry, and spending time with her family.
She was the beloved mother of Neil Simons and his wife Misti West of Templeton, PA, Robert Simons and his wife Barbara of Sharon, and Joan Dorizzi and her husband John of Sharon; dear grandmother of Alexandra and Daniel; and loving sister of Bette Stone of The Villages, FL.
Services will be held at Temple Israel, 125 Pond St., Sharon, MA on Friday, November 8, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Lindwood Memorial Park, Randolph. Memorial observance at the home of Robert and Barbara Simons, Friday immediately following the burial, Saturday through Monday from 5-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in her memory may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 9 Erie Drive, Suite 101, Natick, MA 01760.
