Paula (Nissen) Goldman 11/28/2022

Paula Goldman of Dedham, formerly of Bedford, and Lexington, passed away on November 28, 2022. Born in Cambridge in 1932, daughter to Joseph and Sophie Nissen, Paula was the beloved wife of the late Dr. George Goldman for 63 years, and the devoted mother of five children: Daniel, Matthew, Jon, Thomas, and Gail. She is survived by Daniel Goldman and fiancé Marci; Matthew Goldman and wife Lauren; Jon Goldman and partner Niki; Gail Goldman and partner Dan; and the late Thomas’ surviving spouse, Naomi. Paula was the dearest and proud grandmother of six: Jacob Goldman and wife Sarah, Alex Goldman and wife Amy, Joseph Goldman, Aaron Goldman, Julia Goldman, and Amanda Goldman; and the loving sister of Eric Nissen and partner Cindi, and the late Muriel Statesman.

Paula loved to nurture and care for her children, grandchildren, and patients. She is fondly remembered for her love of people, and her passion for living life to its fullest. Paula and George built a wonderful life together. She loved to travel with George, and planned trips to all corners of the world, including Asia, Africa, South America, Europe and the Caribbean. Paula loved to socialize, and her passions were entertaining, the arts, trying new restaurants, gardening, and trips to the ocean. She was also a great cook and baker.

Paula was both witty and entertaining; she held strong, educated opinions, but could bring smiles to the faces of a room full of people. Paula loved to keep herself busy and her mind sharp. When she wasn’t attending a performance or participating in an activity, she was completing puzzles or playing Scrabble, defeating people half her age, right up to the end.

After retiring from her career as a Nurse Practitioner, it was important for her to continue learning. Paula and George were enthusiastic participants of Brandeis University’s BOLLI continuing education program. An avid reader, she was a member of several book groups.

The family had a private graveside service at Westview Cemetery, Lexington.
