Philip  M. Shir-of Newton, MA, on August 12,2016. Beloved husband of Hope(Schlosberg) Shir. Devoted father of Lois Rohtstein and her husband Steven. Cherished grandfather of Marci Rohtstein. Dear brother of the late Sumner Shir and his surviving wife Ruth. Dear brother in law of Barbara Goldberg and her husband Herbert, the late Joan Weinstein and her surviving husband Robert. Also survived by many loving nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephews. Services at Temple Emanuel, 385 Ward St., Newton, on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at 11:00 am. Following interment at The Woburn Jewish Cemeteries, 11 Washington St., Woburn, memorial observance  will be at the home of Lois and Steven Rohtstein until 9:00 pm, and will continue Monday thru Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 pm. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to Temple Emanuel, Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund.
