Robert Lincoln Ehrmann M.D.

of Westwood, MA, formerly Newton, MA, passed away on February 24, 2019. Beloved husband of the late Janice Lee (Panella) Ehrmann. Devoted father of Lisa Ehrmann and her husband Norman Freeman, and Martha Ehrmann. Proud grandfather of Nathaniel Freeman. Loving brother of H. Bruce Ehrmann and his wife Nancy. Dr. Ehrmann leaves many loving nieces and nephews. Dr. Ehrmann was born in Brookline, MA, and graduated from Swarthmore College and NYU College of Medicine. Early accomplishments included participating in tissue culture research under the late Dr. George Gey. He was a gynecological pathologist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and was the director of the Boston School of Cytotechnology. Amongst his accomplishments, Dr. Ehrmann authored a text entitled Benign to Malignant Progression in Cervical Squamous Epithelium. From 1937 on, he enjoyed summers in the family home on an island in Maine. He enjoyed gardening, photography, and world travel. In later years he enjoyed the community at Fox Hill Village. Services at the Wilson Chapel, 234 Herrick Rd., Newton, MA on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at 10 am. Following interment at Temple Israel Cemetery, Wakefield, MA, memorial reception will be held at Fox Hill Village, Westwood, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dr. Ehrmann’s memory may be made to an animal or environmental charity of your choice.
