WORCESTER – Roslyn (Schorr) Ritz, 95, of 144 Floral St., Shrewsbury, formerly of Worcester, died on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at her residence.
Her husband of many years, Henry M. Ritz, died in 1907. She leaves a son, Jesse Ritz and his wife Susan of Holden; two daughters, Emily Ritz Gerber, wife of Arthur Gerber of Shrewsbury, with whom she lived, and Lorna J. Ritz of Amherst; her grandchildren, Maddkie and Sophie Prince.
She was born in Worcester and was a daughter of Jesse M. and Bessie (Rosenberg) Schorr and lived in Worcester for 87 years, moving to Shrewsbury 8 years ago.
She graduated Classical High School in 1936 and Worcester State Teachers College in 1940 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. She had been a piano teacher, a concert pianist, and had a great love of music. She was a member of Temple Emanuel and its sisterhood, and was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jewish Healthcare Center, Worcester Chapter of Hadassah, and National Women’s Committee of Brandeis University. She was a Past President of Worcester Music Study Group. She was a member of Worcester County Music Association, Worcester Art Museum, Mechanics Hall Association, Jewish Service Center for Older Adults, Jewish Family Service ORT, and Dysotanomia Foundation.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE AT 12:00 NOON ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8, AT TEMPLE EMANUEL, 280 MAY ST., WORCESTER, UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF BREZNIAK RODMAN CHAPELS OF NEWTON. Burial will be at B’Nai Brith Cemetery, Worcester.
Memorial observance through 4:30 pm Friday afternoon, Nov. 8, at the residence of Jesse and Susan Ritz, 3 Explorer’s Way, Holden, MA.
