Sandy L. Weill of Bolton and formerly of Framingham, passed away February 3, 2013. She was 58 years old. Sandy grew up in Coney Island, Brooklyn and although spent most of her adult life in Massachusetts, always considered herself a New Yorker. From her love of the ocean to a good game of Skee-Ball, Sandy never lost her passion for a good time. The arts played a vital role in her life. A taste for Motown and hard rock developed into a love of disco while childhood art classes grew into a passion for painting and a lifelong creative outlet. Two of Sandy’s greatest influences were her father, Walter, from whom she inherited her contagious personality and passion for fine dining, travel and entertainment and her grandmother, Rose, whose love and attention served as the basis for her future parenting. Sandy received her B.A. from York College in Queens, NY and her Masters in Psychology from Suffolk University. She became a social worker and supervisor for the Department of Mental Health and later started a private practice in psychotherapy. In 1991, after the birth of her son, Steven, Sandy began a highly successful new career in sales and program management for high-powered I.T. companies. From developing the Computerworld Honors Program to becoming Senior Director of Executive Programs at IDG, Sandy had a fervent work ethic, exceeding goals and holding multiple sales records at the company to this day. She was held in high regard amongst her co-workers as not only talented and levelheaded but warm and engaging with a great sense of humor. The highlight and most important role in Sandy’s life was being a mother to her son, Steven, whom she loved dearly and was extremely devoted. They enjoyed a multitude of activities together but her love of music, the arts and food are what translated most. Sandy was also adored by her niece, Jill, who admiredher strength, ambition, wit and individuality and who always felt proud to call her “Aunt”. She touched many people’s lives with her care, compassion and innate ability to selflessly lend her ear and empathize with those around her. She faced her diagnosis of recurrent breast cancer with remarkable courage and handled her illness as she handled life— with continued resolve and a smile on her face. Sandy will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, sense of humor and caring that she imparted on the many who called her a friend. Daughter of the late Walter and Marsha (Cohen) Weill, she is survived by her beloved son, Steven Borden-Weill and his girlfriend, Michelle Gibbons; sister, Felice Schweitzer; loving niece, Jill Schweitzer and her husband, Tom Donahue; cousin Barry Cohen, his wife, Debbie and their children, Ariana and Myles; cousin, Kenny Cohen, his wife, Tiffany and their daughter, Rylee and countless, devoted friends. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 6th, 11:00AM, in the chapel at the Edgell Grove Cemetery, 53 Grove St, Framingham. Interment will follow. All are invited to Sandy’s late residence in Bolton afterwards. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute in memory of Sandy Weill. Dana Farber, P.O.
