Sylvia Stern
Stern- Sylvia (Chuker), deeply loved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away on February 1, 2013 in Palm Beach, FL, just shy of her 98th birthday. She was born in MA and lived for many years as a snow bird, spending winters in Palm Beach and summers in Massachusetts. She moved to Palm Beach permanently 15 years ago. She was well known for never having idle hands. She loved creating papier tole pictures, knitting, needle point, playing cards and mahjong. She was devoted to her family. Sylvia was preceeded in death by her son Burton and her husband, Dr. Arthur Stern. She is survived by her loving children Patricia Mariasch (Mario) of CA, Ellen Winner (Bob) of MA and her adored grandchildren, Melissa Fossum (Justin), Gabriel Mariasch, Tracey Winner (Russ Thomas) and Shaun Winner (Emily). She was also the proud great grandmother of Nathan Winner and Sophie Thomas. Sylvia will be sadly missed by her many friends and all who knew her. May her memory be a blessing. Graveside services at Beth El cemetery (776 Baker St., West Roxbury), on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sylvia’s memory may be made to the Diabetes Association, American Heart Association or Alzheimer’s Association.
