Yehudit R. Shorr

Of Hingham, formerly of Lexington, at age 84, on April 24, 2018.   Beloved wife for 68 years of Ya’acov Shorr, devoted mother of her children Eran Shorr and his wife Esther, Maya Shorr Katz and her husband Ronald Katz, and Yoav Shorr and his wife Anne Schwartz.  Cherished grandmother of seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  Loving sister of Nurit Bakaus and the late Esther Barnea. Born in Germany in 1933, immigrated as a baby to Israel.  Served in the Israel Defense Force.  Went on to obtain a BFA from the Bezalel School of Art in Jerusalem. Yehudit, her husband and their three children immigrated to the Boston area in 1967, shortly after the Six-Day War, where they settled in Lexington for the next 40 years.  Yehudit taught fine jewelry making for 35 years at the prestigious DeCordova Museum, showed and sold her work in several galleries in the Boston area.  She was known for her talent and magnificent work. Graveside service at Beit Olam East Cemetery, 42 Concord Rd., Wayland, on Sunday, April 29, 2018, at 1:00 pm.  Following interment, memorial observance will be at the home of Maya and Ron Katz, 9 Diana Lane, Lexington until 9 pm with a Minyan service at 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the South Shore, 30 Reservoir Park Drive, Rockland, MA 02370.
