Rabbi Edward Martin Maline

Rabbi Edward Martin Maline

Of Boca Raton, FL, formerly of Newton, on April 23, 2019. Rabbi Maline was born in Bridgeport, CT. He received his undergraduate degree in linguistics from Middlebury College. Rabbi Maline studied at the International Institute for Hebraic Studies, Paris, and the University of Paris, and was ordained at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati. Rabbi Maline served as an assistant Rabbi at Temple Ohabei Shalom, Brookline, and served as Senior Rabbi at Temple Emanu-El in Lauderdale Lakes, FL. He was currently Senior Rabbi at Marco Island Jewish Congregation. He was Past adjunct professor of Jewish Studies at Florida Atlantic University under an endowment from Jewish Chautauqua Society. Rabbi Maline was an instructor for Elderhostel of Palm Beach County, former apprentice Rabbi at Liberal Jewish Synagogue, London, and also served as past spiritual leader of Temple Judea, Philadelphia. Rabbi Maline was fluent in Hebrew, French, German and Spanish.

Rabbi Maline is survived by his wife Marilyn (Diemont) Maline, son Michael, daughter Pamela, and grandchildren Elizabeth, Grace, Max, Chloe and Ava.

A private graveside service was held on Sunday, April 28,2019 at Baker St., West Roxbury.

Jeffrey Steven Sirlin

Jeffrey Steven Sirlin, 46, of Needham, died on April 26, 2019. Beloved husband of Marisa Jaffe and father of Noah. Devoted son of Ellen and Roger Sirlin. Loving brother to Cliff Sirlin and his wife Sue, and Robin Polin and her husband Russell. Treasured brother-in-law of Sara Jaffe and David Ostroff, and adored son-in-law of Miriam and Jerry Ballan. Cherished uncle to Zac, Grant, Rachel, Kayla, Hannah, and Nora. Funeral services will take place at Temple Beth Shalom, 670 Highland Avenue in Needham on Tuesday, April 30 at 9:45 a.m. Interment will follow at Mishkan Tefila Cemetery, 2605 Centre Street in West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Temple Beth Shalom in Needham or Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Roslyn (Ligums) Brunell

Roslyn (Ligums) Brunell of Canton, formerly of Newton Centre and Boynton Beach, passed away peacefully at age 94.   She was part of a great love story with her late husband Sidney Brunell for 71 years.   Loving mother of Nancy Mitchell & her husband James, Richard Brunell & his wife Anita Lichtblau, and the late Geoffrey Brunell. Adored grandmother of Jenna Goldman & her husband Michael, Emily Mitchell & her husband Benjamin Offenberg, Noah Brunell and Jacob Brunell. Cherished great-grandmother of Sy Robert Goldman.   Sister of the late Melvin Ligums, Norma Rowe and Earl Ligums. Devoted aunt of 6 nieces & nephews.

Roz lived her life with beauty and grace.   Services will be Sunday, April 28, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Temple Reyim, 1860 Washington St., West Newton. Following burial in West Roxbury, shiva will be observed at the home of Nancy & James Mitchell until 8 pm, and on Monday at the home of Richard Brunell & Anita Lichtblau from 7-9 pm. Edward I. Morris, of Stoughton, formerly of Sharon, MA, passed away on April 16, 2019. Beloved husband of the late Arline (Rubinoff) Morris who passed away on March 4, 2019. Devoted father of Marci Steinberg and her husband Steve, and Neil Morris and his wife Arielle. Proud grandfather of Leah and Benjamin Steinberg, and Jordanna and Ava Morris. Dear brother of Reina Dudley. Services at Temple Israel, 125 Pond St., Sharon, MA on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at 10 am. Memorial observance will be at the Knollsbrook Clubhouse, 70 Erin Rd., Stoughton, MA Thursday from 12 noon until 9 pm, continuing on Friday from 10 am – 2 pm at the home of Neil and Arielle Morris. Condolence calls can also be made at the Morris residence on Monday and Tuesday from 1-4 and 7-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Edward’s memory may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

 

Ann Radding

Ann Radding, 72, passed away suddenly on April 15, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Eunice Radding of Springfield, MA, and lived most her adult life in New York.

Ann was a graduate of Classical High School and University of Bridgeport, and had an MA from New York University. She was a kindergarten teacher for 10 years, and later an event planner for the Development Corporation for Israel and numerous other charitable organizations. She was an avid skier and volunteer for the Killington Ski Patrol. Ann loved animals, traveled widely, and was a talented potter.

 Ann was the widow of John Balan, her life partner whom she married in 2011 after a courtship of 42 years. She is survived by her brothers Robert (Rina) of Sharon, MA, Edward (Linda) of Longmeadow, MA, and Alan (Eva) of Newton, MA, as well as 6 beloved nieces and 9 great nephews and great nieces. Funeral will be on Thursday, April 18, at Temple Reyim, 1860 Washington Street, Newton, at 10 am. Shiva will be observed on Thursday from 3-7 pm at the home of Alan and Eva Radding. Ephraim Greenberg

Ephraim Greenberg, 96, of Brookline, passed away on April 15, 2019. Ephraim was born on June 13, 1922 in Rochester, New York to the late Minnie and Jacob Greenberg.  He was a graduate of New York University and Yeshiva University.  Ephraim was an accomplished Rabbi with congregations in Quincy, Philadelphia, New Orleans, Braintree, and Boston.  He was also a pioneer in the world of medical engineering.  He was the quintessential newshound and historian and a lover of classical music. Ephraim is survived by his daughter Lydia and her husband Andrew, his son Jonathan and his wife Barbara, his five beloved grandchildren David, Michael, Jillian, Ross and Ben and his two great grandchildren Jacob and Lyla.  He was a loving brother to his sister, Carolyn and an adoring uncle to his nephews.  He will be greatly missed by his family, who loved him dearly and whom he loved. Graveside service at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham St., Sharon, MA on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 1:45pm. Family and friends will be gathering at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Lydia and Andrew Chesnick following the graveside service until 7:30 pm Wednesday evening.
