“It is over, God has taken my father to be with my mother and Michael. I will miss talking to him every night, miss his wisdom, and his humor. He left on his own terms and I have to know that though I am sad he is out of pain. I have to hope that where he has gone is a better place and he will be greeted by his family and be young and vital again.”

Mildred (Dulman) Zeprun

March 26, 2017

Stoughton, MA, formerly of Milton and Randolph. Millie passed away after a short illness on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at age 91. She is survived by Eliott Zeprun and his wife Diane of Stoughton, Sheila Holland and her husband Michael of Brockton, and Renee Diauto and her husband Frank of Norton. She is also survived by family friend, Nancy Hampson, sister-in-law Ruth Tuler and her husband Paul, and her sister-in-law Doris Zeprun. Millie is survived by eight grandchildren: Scott Zeprun, Tracy Laberge, Jesse Diauto, Kimberly Holland, Jason Holland, Melinda Barbosa, Dr. Roshanna Zeprun and Risa Morse. Millie also leaves six great-grandchildren: Aubrie Laberge, Joshua Laberge, Luke Barbosa, Gabriel Barbosa, Megan Morse and Kate Morse. Millie was predeceased by her husband Louis and her sister Sylvia Wolfe, brothers Albert Dulman, Herbert Dulman, sisters-in-law Betty Dulman and Jane Dulman and brothers-in-law Louis Wolfe and Jack Zeprun. Millie was a business partner at the famous Zeppy’s Baigel Bakery where she worked from 1969 until her retirement in 2006. She and her sister-in-law Doris Zeprun were the driving force behind her husband Louis and his brother Jack in bringing their business to become the largest privately owned producer of fresh bagels in New England. Millie was born in Roxbury in 1925 where she graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School. She and her three siblings were raised by two deaf parents, Elias and Anna Dulman. She sadly lost her father, who was a tailor in Boston’s garment industry, when she was ten years old. During WWII, Millie  dedicated her weekly salary to buying candy and toiletries to send to soldiers on the battlefield. Her home on Seaver Street in Roxbury became a hangout for returning soldiers who were friends of her brothers. One of those handsome soldiers, a bagel baker, Louis Zeprun, became her husband of 67 years. Millie never forgot her first date with Louis, when her brother’s friend needed a short girl for a night out dancing. That’s where the lasting love affair started and never ended. Millie will be sadly missed by the hundreds of employees she had over her years in business, many with whom she remained life-long friends. Graveside service will be at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham St., Sharon, on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at 12:45pm. Memorial observance will be at the home of Eliott Zeprun on Sunday and Monday 4:00-8:00pm. Phyllis (Kaplan) Salvin

March 24, 2017

Phyllis Salvin, of Needham, formerly of Newton, passed away on March 24th, 2017 at age  93.  92 of those years were lived in good health and in happy pursuits. Sadly, the last few months were quite challenging which made her family very sad.

After her husband died and left her a widow at 65, she began to travel the world. When that got to be too much, in her 80’s, she took cruises and traveled across America, Canada and Alaska, and the Caribbean. At 88, her family finally took away her license when a non-English speaking person called to tell them, in very broken English, that she was in a bank about 25 miles from where she lived. She thought it was just another great adventure and no big deal. Her car was sold the next week. Until barely a year ago, she was interested in everything and had no shortage of nasty words to use for agent orange. She wanted to vote for Hillary in this election and see her elected, but became too ill at the last minute. Her greatest desire was to live long enough to see her granddaughter, Jenny, have a baby. She got double that pleasure when her niece also had a baby about the same time. Phyllis was a United States Marine who served during WWII, a college graduate at 50, a competitive bridge player, a business owner, a great grandmother times 4, and a world traveler. Her family states that was a life well-lived.

Shiva will be at the home of Joni and Michael Schockett, 174 Evelyn Road, Needham, MA, on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 and Wednesday from 7-9.

Donations may be made to The Hebrew Rehabilitation Center, 1200 Centre Street, Roslindale, MA 02131, Temple Reyim, 1860 Washington Street, Auburndale, MA, or to the charity of your choice.

Graveside services were held on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Sharon Memorial Park. Phyllis would have been so proud of the beautiful honors bestowed upon her by the United States Marine Corps.
