GEORGE M. WOLFE

January 23, 2008

Wolfe, George M. of Westwood, formerly of Newton and originally Mattapan, January 23, 2008, at the still youthful age of 88. George was the beloved husband and companion of Phyllis (Kaplan) Wolfe for almost 60 years. He was a devoted father to Jessica Wolfe, Andrew Wolfe, James Wolfe and son-in-law, Tom Bloch. Most important in his life were his two prized associates, granddaughters Alison Wolfe Bloch and Margot Wolfe Bloch, whom he doted on from birth. Loving brother to Edwin Wolfe and Leonard Wolfe with whom he shared many wonderful and humorous times. After graduating from M.I.T (class of 1940), George served proudly as a Captain in the U. S. Army during WWII. Following his return, he had a long career in the electrical contracting business where he was widely respected. George touched many people through his diverse professional, civic, and philanthropic activities including service with CJP (lifetime board member), Jewish Vocational Services (Past President), Jewish Housing for the Elderly (Board member) and the formation of several temples. Later in life, George was especially proud of his years of volunteer service where he comforted neurologically ill children and their families at Bostons Children’s Hospital. His children and grandchildren will long remember their many exciting family trips to the Caribbean spanning over 20 years. Services at Temple Beth Elohim, 10 Bethel Road, Wellesley, MA at 2PM, Friday, January 25, 20 08. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park. Memorial observance at the home of his daughter on Saturday evening (January 26th) from 6 to 9PM, and Sunday afternoon (January 27th) from 1 to 4PM. Platt, Anne “Honey” (Sheff) of Newton and Ft. Lauderdale, FL. passed away peacefully on Jan. 22, 2008. Beloved wife of the late Irving Platt. Devoted mother of Robert Platt and his wife Shelley of Falmouth, formerly of Newton and Joan Whiteman of Randolph. Dear grandmother of Darren Platt, Ilyse Kurzman and her husband David, Heather Liebkemann and her husband Scott, Scott Whiteman and Stefani Whiteman. Proud great grandmother, “Mama Honey” to Alex, Danielle and Caitlin Kurzman, Matthew and Kyle Liebkemann and Ryan Whiteman. Dear sister of the late Irving Chick Sheff and his surviving wife Maxine and the late Sidney Sheff and his late wife Helen Sheff. Also survived by loving nieces and nephews. She was an active member of many organizations, and charities such as Regional President of The Muscular Dystrophy Association where she helped raise funds by hosting many events. Honey was known to have a glowing and beautiful smile that was an addition to her generous welcoming, warm and caring nature. A Heart of Gold, as many people who knew her would say. Aloff, Dinah of Roslindale, formerly of Winthrop , entered into rest Thursday, January 17 at the age of 96. She was the beloved daughter of the late Samuel and Ida Aloff, and dear sister of the late Rose Abramson, Jack Aloff and Abe Aloff. A graduate of Radcliffe College, Deenie was also the loving aunt of Marty and Rachel Abramson of Medfield, Ira and Rosanne Abramson of North Easton and Rabbi Alan and Sylvia Abramson of Chicago; Mindy Aloff of New York City; Drs. Ida Jean and Tom Lee of California; and Judy and Robert Samuels of Maryland. Dear grand aunt of twelve and great-grand aunt of three. A graveside service will take place on Sunday, January 20th at 10am at Shara Tfilo Cemetery, 776 Baker Street, West Roxbury.
