Sylvia Rubin- Of Palm Beach, Florida, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away Thursday, September 29, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Sylvia was born in Chelsea, MA on December 8,1923 to Sadie Brodsky and Benjamin Levine. Predeceeased by her husband, Allen, in 2015 and her daughter Nancy earlier this year; she is survived by her daughter Linda and her husband Leonard Ichton, her granddaughter Jill Thomas and her husband Kent, her grandson Craig Sherter and his wife Suzanne, her brother Saul Levine and his wife Bobbi, her step grandchildren Diana and Jason Nelson, and Benjamin & Geoffrey Ichton and 6 great grandchildren. A private graveside service will be held on October 7th at Sharon Memorial Park in Sharon, MA. Remembrances  to: Alzeheimer’s Association National Office, 225 N. Of Needham, age 92, on October 3, 2016, just shy of 65 years of marriage. Daughter of the late Samuel and Dora Lappin.  Beloved wife of Allan.  Cherished mother of Greg and Reva Davis and Richard and Barbara Cataldo.  Grandmother of Shota and Cory (Davis) Furuyama, James and Andrew Cataldo.  Sister of the late Ann and sister-in-law of the late Don Mitchell, Sister-in-law of Jason Bikofsky, Aunt of Barbara McKay, Eric Bikofsky, Emily Bikofsky, and the late John Mitchell and Robert Mitchell.  Also survived by many cousins.  Services in the chapel at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham St., Sharon, Friday, October 7, 2016 at 12:00 noon.  Memorial observance will be at the home of Richard and Barbara Cataldo immediately following the service.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Brigham and Women’s Hospital or the charity of your choice.  The family wants to especially thank Stephanie, Summer and Maddie for their loving care during her final days.

Shamitz-Theodore, of Brookline, age 91, on September 27, 2016. Son of the late Samuel and Celia (Weiner) Shamitz. Beloved husband of Eleanor (Brody).  Cherished father of Stephen and Lynda Shamitz, David and Diane Shamitz, Gerald and Isabel Shamitz, and Beth Shamitz. Grandfather of Robert and Katy Shamitz, Jennifer and Andrew Weissinger, and Tamara and Daniel Hudson. Great-grandfather of Alex,Caleb, Eli, Tyler, Jennie, and Violet. Brother of Bernice and Alan Sperber, and Jeannette and George Bronstein. Brother-in-law of Shirley Richmond and the late Irene Sherman and Richard Brody. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Robert D. Usen-of Chestnut Hill, on September 24, 2016. Beloved husband of  Virginia”Ginny”Usen. Devoted father of Amy Elizabeth Usen, Abigail Usen Berner and her husband Clifton, and the late Peter Usen and his surviving wife Sigrid Usen. Loving grandfather of Lyndsey Berner and Nicholas Usen. Son of the late Irving and Edyth Usen, and brother of Richard Usen and his wife Judy. Service will be  at 11:30 am on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at The Wilson Chapel, 234 Herrick Road, Newton Centre. Interment private. Following services family and friends are invited to the home of Jeanne Yozell from 1-4pm. Robert was the owner of Tabby Cat Food and Capeway Seafoods. He graduated from Mass Maritime Academy and Tufts University. He served on the Board of Advisors at The Friedman School of Nutrition at Tufts University, The Board of Generations Inc., The Boston Civic Symphony, and was a former Trustee at Proctor Academy. He was an avid sailor, tennis player and skier. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders, Department of Neurology, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, 330 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215 or Cranberry Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, Suite 326, Plymouth, MA 02360.  The family is forever grateful for the care he received at the Newfield House in Plymouth, MA.

Betty Brandner, 103, resident of Brighton since 2005.  Born in Brooklyn, New York, and a resident there for 93 years. Devoted wife of the late Bernard Brandner, M.D. Beloved mother of Anita Weinberger and her husband, Howard, Ellen Colton and her husband Clark and Harvey Brandner and his wife, Sandy. Loving grandmother of 10, great­ grandmother of 24, and great-great-grandmother  of 2. She was a graduate of Brooklyn College, and also received her Masters in Education there. She taught math at Dyker Heights J.H.S. in Brooklyn for thirty-five years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her.Services at The Riverside-Boulevard Chapel, Hewlett, L.I., NY

Sobol- Arthur Martin, 69, of Newton, Massachusetts passed away September 14, 2016 at Beth Israel surrounded by close friends and family.

He was born March 7, 1947 in Boston, Massachusetts, the only son to the late Lilian and George Sobol. He graduated from Harvard University with a degree in Mathematics. He worked as a programmer at both Mass General Hospital, and Harvard School of public health.

He will always be remembered by anyone who met him, for his childlike enthusiasm, humor, constant singing, pleasant disposition and mostly for the lives he touched with his generosity. He not only opened his home, but also his heart to his caregiver Carolen Everrette, and her family adopting them as his own family. Arthur will forever be in our hearts and thoughts.

Graveside services at the Workmen’s Circle Cemetery, 776 Baker Street, West Roxbury, on Sunday, September 25, 2016, at 10:00 am. Remembrances in his memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
