Stephen M. Richmond

Stephen M. Richmond, 77, of Newton, MA died Monday, Aug. 22,2016 at home after a courageous fight with cancer.He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Alberta (Miller) Richmond; son Larry and daughter-in-law Julie; daughter Marcy Lifter and son-in-law Les; daughter Emily and son-in-law Stephen A. Berrey; sister Eleanor Isaacson; brother-in-law William Kaye; grandchildren Zachary, Danny, Charlie, Hannah, and Sabrina; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Cynthia and brother-in-law Michael. A native of Newton, Richmond was a 1961 graduate of Harvard University and earned his juris doctorate from Boston College in 1964. A founding and managing partner of Kaye, Fialkow, Richmond & Rothstein in Boston, he joined its successor, Stroock & Stroock & Lavan, serving on its executive committee and as managing partner of its Boston office. He later practiced law with his son in Wellesley Hills. Richmond was active in numerous professional, philanthropic and community organizations, including Jewish Vocational Services, Temple Israel, and the YMCA of Greater Boston Training Inc.He was an avid golfer and traveler but found some of his greatest pleasures in spending time with his family and many close friends.A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016 at 12 noon at Temple Israel, 477 Longwood Ave., Boston (parking on The Riverway). Following interment at Sharon Memorial Park (40 Dedham Street, Sharon) the family will observe Shiva at his home until 9 p.m. Wednesday. Shiva will resume Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., Friday  2-4 p.m. and Saturday evening 7-9 p.m.In lieu flowers the family appreciates memorial donations be made to Hebrew SeniorLife, 1200 Centre St., Boston, MA 02131 or Temple Israel.

Samuel Morrill Robbins

age 93, of West Newton, on August 22, 2016. Beloved husband of Sheila (Wolffers) Robbins with whom he shared 59 years of marriage. Devoted father of Jonathan Julius Robbins and his wife Patricia Willard of Westborough and Melanie Joy Steffen of Auburndale. Son of the late Julius Robbins and Rose (Robbins) Kamberg. Brother of James Robbins of AZ, and the late Gerald Robbins. Dear brother-in-law of Myra Soosman and Tim Supovitz of ME. Sam was a graduate of Governor Dummer Academy, Harvard College 1945, and Harvard Business School 1950. He was a well-respected Investment Counselor and started Robbins Planning Company in 1960. He was an honorable WWII Veteran who aided with the liberation of Dachau. Sam shared a love of the outdoors and American art; especially that of the White Mountains NH, where he spent much time with his wife and children hiking and camping. Sam and Sheila’s lifelong hobby collecting art has been donated to the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem MA.  Services in the Dana Chapel at the Adath Jeshurun Cemetery, 350 Grove St., West Roxbury, Sunday, August 28, 2016 at 11:00 am. Richard J. “Dick” Prince

Dick Prince

Of Newton Centre, MA and Harwichport, MA, on August 21, 2016. Beloved husband of the late Diana (Hark) Prince. Devoted and loving father of Annie Prince Hill of Norwalk, CT and Lauren Prince Oasis and her husband Kenneth Oasis of Waban, and step-children Sara Spector Brown, Marjorie Anderson, and Steven Spector. Cherished grandfather of Erica and Matthew Hill, and Nathan and Sabrina Oasis.

Dick graduated from Harvard College and received his Master’s degree in Business Administration from Columbia University, and had a very successful 45 year career as a commercial real estate developer with  the New England Development Corp.

His funeral service will be held at Temple Beth Elohim, 10 Bethel Rd., Wellesley, MA on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 12:00 noon. Following interment at Or Emet Cemetery, 776 Baker St., West Roxbury, memorial observance will be at the home of Lauren and Kenneth Oasis, Waban, until 7:00 pm and Thursday 1-3 & 6-8 pm.

Sis Rose

Dolores M. “Sis” (Mooney) Rose, 92, a lifelong resident of Truro passed away peacefully on August 20, 2016 at Seashore Point in Provincetown. She was the beloved wife of Norman F. Rose who passed away in 2011 and with whom she shared 52 years of marriage.

Daughter of the late Francis and Agnes Mooney, “Sis” was educated locally and graduated from Provincetown High School. Along with Norman, “Sis” owned and operated The Dairy King in Truro, the Truro Laundromat, and Norm Rose’s Lower Cape Ice.  Always dedicated to her local community, “Sis” managed the AIM Thrift Shop in Wellfleet for many years as well as a founder of the Truro Council on Aging.  She was devoted to Our Lady of Lourdes Church and was a recipient of the Diocese of Fall River Marian Medal.  “Sis” was also one of the people responsible for beautifying the intersections of Truro with beautiful wildflowers for many years.

“Sis” was the beloved mother of Douglas F. Rose and his wife Karen of Wilton NY and Truro and the cherished grandmother of Shannon and Aidan. She was the sister of Arthur P. Mooney of Newport, RI, Denis Mooney and his wife Carol of Truro, and George “Malcolm” Mooney and his wife Janet of Truro; sister-in-law of Elmer Rose of Texas and sister-in-law Mary Lou Rose of Truro, and the late Austin “Ozzie” Rose and George Rose. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. She was pre-deceased by her sister Marguerite “Peg” Krumpelbeck and her brother Francis “Brud” Mooney, Jr.

Dolores’ family sincerely appreciates the outstanding care and treatment rendered to her while living at Pleasant Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brewster and Seashore Point in Provincetown.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter the Apostle Church, 11 Prince St., Provincetown, on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 10:00 am. John Owen Rudy

of West Newton, on August 16, 2016. Beloved husband of Susan Herman. Devoted father of Sara Rudy and Paula Rudy. Brother of the late Paula Sternberg.

After graduating from the MIT class of ‘73 with a BSEE, John started his technical career at Gordon Engineering and Analogic. He then founded a small airplane simulator company, Aviation Simulation Technology, purchased by Sippican Corp. He served as Director of Instrumentation at Orion Research and Angenics, and was one of the founders of Medica. The second half of his career was focused on his work with ground penetrating radar (GPS) technology as a designer, architect, engineer and Director of Research and Development for Geophysical Survey Systems, Inc. His intelligence was impressive, but he will be most remembered for his kind and generous nature, his off-beat sense of humor, and the countless personal and professional friendships that he cherished.
