Etta Christine (Whitaker) Langille passed away on April 2, 2014 at home and surrounded by her family, as she wished. She was 88 years old. Etta was born in Weymouth, raised in Pembroke and a longtime resident of Needham. Her beloved husband Ronald D. Langille passed away just 4 short months before her in November 2013.
Etta survived her two sisters Evelyn Napolaton and Janet Peterson. She was a devoted mother to Ronald W. Langille and his wife Karen of Dedham and Debra Kelly and her late husband Brian of Plymouth. Grandmother to Kelly Langille and her fiancee Charles Collins, Ronald B. Langille, Kevin Langille, Brendan Kelly and his wife Laura, and Shealan Kelly. Great-grandmother to Leah and Charlie Collins.
She met her late husband, Ronald, on a blind date. She thought his accent was “funny”, he thought she was beautiful. They married December 15, 1951. They spent all of their time together, working side by side in the family business, raising their two children, and never tiring of each other. Etta even enjoyed the occassional ride on the back of her husband’s Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Before becoming a mother she was an LPN, caring for blind infants and children at the Convelescent Home for Children in Wellesley and the New England Home for Little Wanderers in Jamaica Plain.
After her children had married and started families of their own, Etta and Ron traveled extensively throughout the United States in their “motor-home”, visiting all the states except Hawaii, They also enjoyed traveling throughout the Canadian provinces, where Ronald was born and raised.
Etta was a strong, kind, gentle, caring, compassionate woman who will be missed daily by her loved ones. Her family and friends could only wish that she is now happy and at peace, once again reunited with her beloved husband.
At Etta’s request funeral services will be private. Those wishing to remember her may do so through memorial donations to the Joslin Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215. Arrangements under the direction of Brezniak-Rodman Funeral Directors of Newton.

Elaine (Abramoff) Palley, 87, a lifelong resident of Worcester, passed away on March 31, 2014, at UMass Memorial Healthcare with her family at her bedside. A daughter of Harry and Ida (Abramoff) Bloom, Elaine attended Worcester Public Schools and Salter College. She leaves her husband of 67 years, Julius, her daughter Jane and her husband Bennett Weintraub, and their children, Jesse, Daniel, and Rebecca; her daughter Candace and her husband P. Joseph Casey and their children, Benjamin and Alexander, and her son, Jonathan Palley and his wife Natalie and their children, Sarah, Harry, and Max. Elaine also leaves her sister, Ruth and her husband Lloyd Marks, and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sisters, Evelyn Levine and Marcia Zwecher and by her brother Sidney Bloom. Elaine’s early years of marriage were spent raising her three young children at the Newport Naval Base while her husband served our country overseas. Elaine’s primary interest was family and friends. Concerned with the problems of children and adults with social needs, she was a volunteer aid at the Glavin Center, Worcester State Hospital and Westboro State Hospital. She also volunteered as a school librarian for the Worcester Public School System. Throughout her married life Elaine shared in the family business activities. Elaine was a member of Beth Israel Synagogue’s Sisterhood, National Council of Jewish Women, Hadassah, and the Jewish Healthcare Auxiliary. She was born in Bronx, NY and lived most of her life in Worcester.
