October 3, 2012

SHUCHAT–Molly. With great sadness we mourn the death on September 26, 2012 of Molly Shuchat, 95, of Jamaica Plain, MA formerly of Deerfield Beach, FL and Bayside, NY. She was the beloved mother of Alan (Alix) and Jeffrey (Jackie); cherished wife to Morris who predeceased her by seven years; adored grandmother of Mark, Allison, Vera, and Jake; and revered great-grandmother to Harry and Xiao-Ling. Molly will be remembered as a treasured teacher of mathematics by her many students.Molly was born in Russia and emigrated to the United States via Canada. She met Morris (Red) when she was fifteen years old. After a five year engagement they were married for sixty-five years. They raised two sons and cared for her mother. They traveled and enjoyed life through their diverse interests: Jewish studies and music; square dancing; shell gathering, Broadway, and opera together; craft work for Red and baking and bridge for Molly. Molly had a musical laugh, an inquisitive and sharp mind, and the ability to be forthright, genuine, and decent. She saw the world through a glass half-filled. Those of us fortunate enough to have loved her and be loved by her will miss her for the rest of our lives.
