Thom Kidrin of Brookline, MA died peacefully at his home on November 21, 2025 from viral encephalitis. Thom was the beloved husband of Deborah Rivlin, Devoted father of Jenna Rose Willits (Michael Willits) and Aly Drew Coleman (Sean Coleman), loving Zayde of Liv, Fiona, Mila, Ella, Harper and Oliver. and older brother of Gwen Breidbart and Jeff Falick.

Thom was a force of nature—full of life, laughter, and unstoppable energy. He adored his family and friends, and nothing made him happier than whisking his children and grandchildren off on adventures, turning ordinary days into something fun, unforgettable, and often downright magical.

He poured his heart into the things he loved: gardening, cooking, and every inch of Truro—the clamming, the beaches, the dunes, and his legendary tours of all the Cape’s hidden treasures. Sunsets in Truro and Provincetown weren’t just sunsets to Thom; they were moments of wonder he shared with everyone around him.

Music moved him deeply. Dylan and Van Morrison were favorites, but Thom created beauty of his own—writing songs and filling the air with the sound of his 12-string guitar and harmonica.

An entrepreneur at his core, Thom built and inspired countless ventures. His mind never stopped sparking with ideas, and he approached his work with the same joy others might reserve for a favorite sport.

A voracious reader and lover of all things new—gadgets, inventions, the latest “must-try” idea—Thom’s curiosity was endless. His charisma was unforgettable, and people of all ages remembered him after a single meeting.

Thom was loved by so many, and he will be deeply missed. But his stories, his spirit, and the magic he brought to the world will live on forever.

A link to view the livestream funeral service can be found here.

Ina Sue Cushman, 71, beloved daughter of the late Frank and Julia Cushman, died November 16 at home. She was recovering from surgery for a complex leg fracture.

Ms. Cushman leaves her siblings, Deborah Cushman of Dedham, Steven Cushman (Maria, wife) of Rehoboth, a close group of neighborhood friends and a raft of physician associate colleagues worldwide.

Ms. Cushman grew up in Sharon.

She loved sports and was a high school field hockey goalie and a college gymnast, as well as a children’s gymnastics instructor.

Ms. Cushman graduated from Connecticut College with a bachelor’s degree in zoology and from Yale School of Medicine’s Physician Associate advanced studies program.

She was an award-winning surgical specialties clinician for Atrius Health for nearly 30 years, pioneering wound care management. After giving up clinical practice, Ms. Cushman was a highly sought-after tutor for medical subjects and exam preparation until her death.

She was also a lecturer and helped create the Orthopedics course for Northeastern University’s PA Program.

Ms. Cushman was very active in her field’s professional associations at the state and national levels. She was President of the American Association of Physician Associates from 2002-2003 and led the Board of the Massachusetts Association of Physician Associates.

For many years she was a volunteer in the human body exhibit at the Museum of Science and designed an award-winning display using a human skeleton riding a bicycle.

Suffering through countless surgeries and other conditions, Ms. Cushman fought for life on her terms with an indomitable spirit. She prevailed time after time under circumstances that would have defeated others. While a hospital patient, she routinely caught clinical errors and conducted physician-sanctioned bedside tutorials.

Ms. Cushman provided invaluable live-in care to her late mother, ensuring her safe, happy final years.

She often served as the “family and friends” medico, caring for bleeding wounds, aching joints and others’ aging parents. While a warrior, Ms. Cushman also had a gentle and generous spirit, particularly with children.

Her funeral service will be Monday, November 24, 2025, at 10 AM at Temple Israel, 125 Pond St., Sharon.  Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon.  Shiva at Ina’s residence, Monday following interment and Tuesday from 12-3 pm  and 6-8 pm.

Barbara R. Kabot

November 15, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Barbara Stone Kabot of Newton, formerly of Malden, after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Loretta & Harry Stone, formerly of Malden and Randolph. Beloved wife of the late Sydney Kabot of Newton, and Stepmother of Jeffrey Kabot, of California. She is survived by her sisters Madeline Glugeth and Joyce D’Amico of Chestnut Hill. Also survived by her niece Cheryl & her husband Robin Sampson, her nephew Derek Sampson & his fiancé’ Sarah Longfield, nephew Brett & his wife Devon Sampson, niece Mallory Sampson & her husband Andrew Fontenault, and great aunt of Garrett, Jordyn & Bretty.

Barbara was a graduate of Hickox Secretarial School and received a certificate from LaBoure College in Food Service Management & Nutrition. She worked for many years for Ginn & Co. in the proofreading & editing department. Her great passion was Culinary Arts and worked as a manager & supervisor for many colleges, and medical facilities. She had a passion for cooking, and made many specialties for holidays and parties, which she shared with her family & friends.

She prided herself on becoming a collector of all things beautiful and valuable. She owned a vast collection of cookbooks from all over the world, especially her signed collection of Julia Child cookbooks. Known for her exquisite taste, in clothing, furniture, and art, she became everyone’s advisor.

Having had many health challenges during her lifetime, she coped bravely and tried to succeed despite them. She believed when something bad happens, we have three choices, we can let it define us, let it destroy us, or let it strengthen us. She had a dry sense of humor, and a very memorable laugh; our world will not be the same without her.

Funeral Services at King Solomon Memorial Park, (2667 Centre St., West Roxbury), on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to The National Kidney Foundation, or Jewish National Fund.
