Arthur Savage

Arthur Savage of Waltham, formerly of Wellesley, passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving evening,surrounded by his loving family – his wife, Barbara Savage, daughter, Jackie Savage-Borne of West Newton, and son, Rob Savage of Los Angeles. He is survived by his brother, Allen Savage of New York, and was predeceased by his brother, Sheldon Savage of Danville, CA.  Arthur was the beloved grandfather of Calvin and Lila Borne of West Newton. Arthur directed theatre in both Boston and New York and then went on to own and direct Camp Samoset in Casco, Maine from 1989-2009. Memorial Service on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Wellesley College Club. 727 Washington St., Wellesley, MA 02482.Family and friends are welcome to visit following the service from 5:00-8:30 pm at the home of Jackie Savage-Borne and Ben Borne, 167 Cherry St., Newton, MA 02465.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Arthur’s memory may be made to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, www.mspca.org.

James “Jim” Zelman Lipshires

November 25, 2016

Formerly of Framingham and Brookline, passed away peacefully Friday morning, November 25, 2016 at the Mary Ann Morse Nursing Home.  He was 89 years old. He is predeceased by his son, Kenneth.  Jim is survived by his son Stuart Lipshires and his wife Rene,  and Karen Lipshires and her wife Cinde Clatterbuck.  He was the brother of Barbara and her husband Len Srebnick and the uncle of David and his wife Carol, and Joel and his partner Beverly.

Jim was a proud veteran of World War II. He cared deeply for people and was a life long volunteer in many organizations.  Jim had a passion for traveling, visiting well over 50 countries.

A graveside service will be held, Sunday, November 27, 2016 at  Crawford Street Memorial Park, 776 Baker St., West Roxbury at 11:00 am.  Memorial observance will be at the home of Karen Lipshires, Tewksbury, MA, immediately following the service until 7:00 p.m.   Additional  calling hours  will be held at the home of Karen and Cinde on Monday and Tuesday, November 28-29 from 1-4 p.m. and from 6-9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Temple Emanuel of the Merrimack Valley, Beagles of New England States (BONES) or the charity of your choice.

Gloria Machowski died November 22, a graduate of Vesper George School of Art of Boston. Upon graduation, she worked as a Design Artist at Norcross Greeting Cards in New York City. She had her own art studio in Canton, CT. In the past, she was also a teacher at West Hartford Art League. She leaves a loving ex-husband, Joseph Machowski of Bristol, a brother & sister-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Gelb of Brookline, MA, sister-in-law, Mrs. Arlene Wagner of Greenwich, sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Ronald Jakiel of Unionville, sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Obremski of Burlington. Also, she leaves 7 nieces & nephews and 18 great nieces & nephews. Private graveside services for the family at Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery in Sharon, MA on Friday, November 25th. Scott Ira Meister

Age 49, of Holliston, died on November 20, 2016 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was the beloved son of Cynthia T. (Hass) Meister and the late Maj. Jerome F. “Jerry” Meister (USA-ret),  devoted brother of Traci Blecher and her husband Adam, and loving uncle of Zachary, Brandon, and Caitlyn.

Scott was a 2nd degree black belt in karate, an avid collector of comic books and Star Trek memorabilia, and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially taking trips to Foxwoods with his father.

Graveside service at the Framingham-Natick Jewish Cemetery, 40 Fairview Ave., Natick, Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 1:30 pm. Memorial observance at the Meister residence on Tuesday 6-9 pm and Wednesday 1-4 & 6-9 pm with  Minyan service each evening at 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Scott’s memory may be made to the Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation, 1004-A O’Reilly Ave., San Francisco, CA  94129.
