Anne (Segaloff) Giller

of Westwood, formerly of Woburn and Delray Beach, FL, died on Sunday, July 12, 2015. She was almost 105 years old and lived a long and fulfilling life. She was felled by liver failure at the end.

She was the beloved wife of Edward I. Giller. M.D., who predeceased her as did her son Richard. Anne was the mother of Barbara Glazerman and her husband Michael. A role she loved was being grandmother to Richard, Jill, and Gail and “Grammy” or “Auntie” to an extended and close family who stayed in touch by visiting and including Anne in so many family simchas.

Anne enrolled in Teacher’s College in Boston and completed their three year program for a teacher’s certificate. She began teaching in the Quincy School on Tyler St. in Chinatown where she taught for seven years. During this time she completed her undergraduate degree at Boston University. Anne joined the Women’s Defense Corps, Motor Division during WWII and had the job of driving an ambulance. She was proud that she was chosen to drive the lead ambulance during a trial evacuation. She was active in the women’s committee of the Choate Memorial Hospital in Woburn. Later she joined the League of Women Voters and ultimately rose to Vice President of her local chapter in charge of monitoring legislation. In addition to these activities, Anne loved to play golf and tennis. She also played bridge, canasta, and mah jong. During her early years, when kids were told to play outside, she has many memories of ice skating, tobogganing, and swimming with her friends and family.

Services at Temple Israel, 477 Longwood Ave., Boston, (parking on The Riverway), Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 1:30 pm. Following interment at Sharon Memorial Park, memorial observance will be at the home of Michael and Barbara Glazerman and will continue on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 from 12-6 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. William D. Krasnow

Krasnow

William D. Krasnow- of Osprey, Florida, formerly of Wayland MA, Charlestown MA and Newport RI, on July 12, 2015 at age 73 after a brief illness. Father of Stefanie Kaufman, Sheryl Krasnow and Lonny Krasnow, brother of Marshall Krasnow and grandfather of Drew Kaufman and Misale Verhelst. Born in Boston, he was known as Bill or, more likely, Kraz, he graduated from Boston University in 1963 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Aeronautical Engineering and thereafter participated in one of NASA’s first research studies of locomotion in lunar gravity. He served as manager of Corporate Real Estate for Digital Equipment Corporation from 1972 to ’85, and as director of real estate facilities at Apollo Computer Inc. from 1985 to ’90. He was a founding principal at Cresa Partners, LLC in 1990 and worked there until 2004, at which point he retired in pursuit of sunshine and water. A lifelong boating and Boston sports enthusiast, he had spent recent years working towards his pilot’s license.Graveside Services will be held at the Shara Tfilo Cemetery, 776 Baker Street,West Roxbury/Newton line, on Thursday, July 16, at 11am, a stone’s throw away from his childhood home. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Bill’s name to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA  02241-7005.

 

Martin Linsey

Martin J. Linsey, age 79, passed away on July 9, 2015. Preceded in death by his wife, Miriam Linsey and parents, Morris Linsey and Lillian Sater Linsey. He is survived by his sons, Larry Linsey and Steve Linsey; daughters-in-law, Margaret Furlong and Pat Ma; grandchildren, Moya, Evan and Ryan Linsey; and brother-in-law, Herman Rose. The family expresses their thanks to the staff at Zusman Hospice for the loving and wonderful care.
Graveside Service at Sharon Memorial Park, 120 Canton St., Sharon, Shiva will be observed at the Linsey residence on Sunday from 7-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Columbus Jewish Foundation for early childhood education.

James Monroe Stoneman – Of Boca Raton, Florida, and Boston and Osterville, Massachusetts, on July 5, 2015. Beloved husband of Thea Stoneman and the late Selma Stoneman and the late Joan Sonnabend. Devoted father of Heidi Norton and the late David H. Stoneman and the late Andrea Stoneman. Dear grandfather of Matthew Norton and his wife Agata, and Jenna Robinson and her husband Ryan.  Loving great grandfather of Colton and Addison Robinson. Mr. Stoneman was former President of The Interstate Theatre Corporation and was past President of the Theatre Owners of New England and the owner of Seljim Investments.He was also a Barker with the Variety Club of New England. A veteran of the U.S. Navy during WWII, Mr. Stoneman was an ardent benefactor of the Boston medical community and through his support the Thea and James M. Stoneman Centennial Park at Brigham and Women’s Hospital,The Stoneman Medical Center at the Cape Cod Hospital and the Stoneman Healing Garden at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute have been established in his honor.
