WORCESTER – Roslyn (Schorr) Ritz, 95, of 144 Floral St., Shrewsbury, formerly of Worcester, died on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at her residence.

Her husband of many years, Henry M. Ritz, died in 1907. She leaves a son, Jesse Ritz and his wife Susan of Holden; two daughters, Emily Ritz Gerber, wife of Arthur Gerber of Shrewsbury, with whom she lived, and Lorna J. Ritz of Amherst; her grandchildren, Maddkie and Sophie Prince.

She was born in Worcester and was a daughter of Jesse M. and Bessie (Rosenberg) Schorr and  lived in Worcester for 87 years, moving to Shrewsbury 8 years ago.

She graduated Classical High School in 1936 and Worcester State Teachers College in 1940 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. She had been a piano teacher, a concert pianist, and had a great love of music. She was a member of Temple Emanuel and its sisterhood, and was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jewish Healthcare Center, Worcester Chapter of Hadassah, and National Women’s Committee of Brandeis University. She was a Past President of Worcester Music Study Group. She was a member of Worcester County Music Association, Worcester Art Museum, Mechanics Hall Association, Jewish Service Center for Older Adults, Jewish Family Service ORT, and Dysotanomia Foundation.

FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE AT 12:00 NOON ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8, AT TEMPLE EMANUEL, 280 MAY ST., WORCESTER, UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF BREZNIAK RODMAN CHAPELS OF NEWTON. Burial will be at B’Nai Brith Cemetery, Worcester.

Memorial observance through 4:30 pm Friday afternoon, Nov. 8, at the residence of Jesse and Susan Ritz, 3 Explorer’s Way, Holden, MA.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice .

Linda (Lofchie) Simons, 76, of Woodstock, CT, formerly of Randolph, MA, died on November 6, 2013 at New Bridge on the Charles in Dedham. She was the beloved wife of the late S. Paul Simons who passed away in 2004.

Born in Boston, daughter of the late Leo and Doris (Appel) Lofchie, Mrs. Simons was raised in the Dorchester section of Boston. She was educated in the Boston Public Schools and graduated from Girls Latin School in 1955. She earned her B.S. degree in Engineering and Math from Northeastern University in 1960 and her M.S. degree in Applied Management from Lesley College in 1985. Mrs. Simons was employed as a Quality Assurance Engineer for the Boston Edison Company for many years. Very involved in her community, she was a former chairperson of the Randolph Planning Board, member of the Randolph Democratic Town Committee, past president of the Randolph chapter of Hadassah, member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of Temple Beth Am in Randolph.  She was also a past president of her temple in Woodstock, CT. A proud Democrat, Mrs. Simons was honored to attend the Democratic National Convention that nominated Barack Obama to become the 44^th President of the United States. In her retirement she enjoyed traveling, playing golf, producing beautiful glass pieces of art, making jewelry, and spending time with her family.

She was the beloved mother of Neil Simons and his wife Misti West of Templeton, PA, Robert Simons and his wife Barbara of Sharon, and Joan Dorizzi and her husband John of Sharon; dear grandmother of Alexandra and Daniel; and loving sister of Bette Stone of The Villages, FL.

Services will be held at Temple Israel, 125 Pond St., Sharon, MA on Friday, November 8, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Lindwood Memorial Park, Randolph. Memorial observance at the home of Robert and Barbara Simons, Friday immediately following the burial, Saturday through Monday from 5-8 PM. Grobman-Joseph, of Marblehead, formerly of Revere, MA, on November 5, 2013. Beloved husband of the late Lillian S. (Bazer) Grobman. Devoted father of Susan Porter and her husband Thomas of Marblehead, and Andrew Grobman and his wife Diana of Brookline. Dear grandfather of Kimberly Ferrandi of Salem. Proud great grandfather of Benjamin Ferrandi. Loving brother of the late Frances Jacob and Blanche Grobman. Services will be private. Sybil Greta (Miller) Shulman, of Dedham, formerly of West Roxbury, on November 4, 2013. Beloved wife of William. Devoted mother of Aileen Grossman and her husband Neil, Laurence Shulman and his wife Amy. Dear Bobo of Ariel and her husband Keith, Aron, and Alyssa and Ross. Great Bobo of Caleb and Owen. Dear sister of Leonard Miller and the late Sumner and Paul Miller. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Services at Temple Sinai, 25 Canton St., Sharon, on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 1:30 pm. Popper- Barbara (Krouner), of Needham, age 70, on November 3, 2013, following a very courageous battle with Lung Cancer. Beloved wife of Steven Popper. Devoted mother of Jeffrey Popper of Medfield, Nancy Popper of Cambridge, Lee Popper of Needham and Sarah Popper of Arlington. Dear grandmother of Milo, Harry, William, Isaac, Brandon, Jasper, Anna, Sofia and Leo. Loving sister of Betsy Krouner of NY,NY and Susan Sclafani of Washinton, DC. Services at Temple Beth Shalom, 670 Highland Avenue, Needham, on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 10:00 am. Following interment at Baker Street, West Roxbury, memorial observance will be at the home of Lee Popper until 4 pm and 6-8 pm. Memorial observance will continue Thursday 1-4, 6-8 pm & Friday 1-4 pm.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Federation for Children with Special Needs, 529 Main Street, Suite 1M3, Boston, MA 02129. In 1971, Barbara founded Children in Hospitals, a non profit organization that advocated for the rights of parents with hospitalized children. She continued this work as a Project Director for The Federation for Children with Special Needs.

Joe Aronof -age 93, died on Monday, November 4th at the Jewish Healthcare Center.

His wife of many years, Fannie (Behar) Aronof died in 1994. He leaves a daughter, Malka wife of Leon Sebag of Worcester; a son, Asher Aronof and his wife Felice of Westboro; his grandchildren, David Sebag and his wife Malee of New York City, Susan wife of Eddie Carter of Worcester and Andrew Aronof and Isabelle Aronof, both of Westboro and his great grandchildren, Divinity, Luna and August.

He leaves his family and friends with his favorite outlook in life “Live Life to the Fullest. ”

He was born in Batum, Georgia, Russia and was a son of Rabbi Asher and Malda (Janaschwili) Aronof and lived in Turkey for many years and in Israel for 4 years, moving to Worcester in 1965.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00PM Today, Tuesday November 5th in the Chapel of the Jewish Healthcare Center at 629 Salisbury St., under the Direction of Richard Perlman of Brezniak Rodman Chapels of Newton. Burial will be in Worcester Hebrew Cemetery in Auburn.

Following the interment service, Memorial Observance will begin at the Jewish Healthcare Center and will continue Tuesday through Thursday evenings at Beth Israel Synagogue on Jamesbury Drive from 7pm to 8:30pm joining the family for services with a reception to follow. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice
