Elliott Glassman

Elliott Glassman
of Columbia, CT, formerly of Canton and Delray Beach, FL, passed peacefully in his sleep on March 20, 2013. Beloved husband of the late Doris (Polian) Glassman. Devoted father of Leanne Rand and husband Jim of Columbia, CT, Jennifer Port and husband Geoff of Centerville, and Douglas Glassman and wife Eileen of Ashland. Loving papa of Melissa and Jessica Rand, Michelle and Daniel Port, and Elyssa and Leah Glassman, and all his grand puppies. Brother of Bernice Kushner of RI, Adeline Freedman of Swampscott, Joan Glassman of CT, Mark Glassman of CA, and the late Harold and Sydney Glassmen. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Elliot was a Boston high school teacher in Jamaica Plain and other schools for 25 years.

He was very proud to have affected so many of his wonderful students to be the best they could be. As hockey coach of the Husky’s he coached his team to their first win in many years. He was also Chairman of the Student Senate and enjoyed leading graduating seniors down the aisle to Pomp & Circumstance.  Elliot was a Sergeant Major in the Army National Guard.  He and his late wife Doris ran the kindergarten at Temple Beth Abraham for many years.

Graveside services at Beth El Cemetery, 776 Baker St., West Roxbury on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at 2:00 PM. Following services, memorial observance will be held at 100 Rosemary Way – 1st floor, Needham, MA and then at the home of Douglas and Eileen Glassman, Ashland,MA from 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society,  30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

Alfred S. Hanover

Aldred S. Hanover of Framingham, on March 19, 2013. Beloved husband of the late Edith (Barron) Hanover. Devoted father of Mark Lewis Hanover of Revere and Kenneth Hanover and his wife Sylvia of South Hamilton. Dear grandfather of Jonathan B., Stephanie L., Zachary A., Caylen S., and Emily C. Hanover and great-grandfather of Katherine, Sydney, and Lily Hanover.  Brother of the late Florence Handman and Gloria Corey. Graveside services at the Framingham Natick Jewish Cemetery, Fairview Ave. Natick on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Memorial observance will be held at his late residence on Friday from 2-4 PM, Saturday evening after 8 PM, and on Sunday from 2-4 PM. Claire Burack

Claire (Ravitz) Burack, age 93, of 23370 Carolwood Lane, Boca Raton, FL died at her residence on Tuesday, March 19th.
She leaves her husband of nearly 72 years, Eli A. Burack; a daughter, Laura wife of Rabbi Harold Jaye of Ocala, FL; her grandsons, Ari and Zachary Burack and her granddaughter, Mira Burack wife of Jason Janusch; a greatgrandson Levi and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Jeffrey Burack; her brother, Dr. Louis Ravitz; her sisters, Gertrude Reimer and Janice Resnick and Janice’s husband Oscar and son Scott. Claire was a graduate of Commerce High School, and a member of Phi Delta Sorority, a graduate of Salter Business School, and attended the business school at Boston University. She was a member of Temple Emanuel and its Sisterhood and of Temple Beth El and the Women’s Club in Boca Raton. She was a member of Temple Emanuel’s Theater Review Board, a life member of Hadassah and an active member of both the National Council of Jewish Women and ORT. She was a volunteer for many years at Worcester City Hospital. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 3 PM ON SUNDAY, MARCH 24TH IN TEMPLE EMANUEL AT 280 MAY ST. Burial will be in Holy Society Cemetery in Leicester. Immediately following the interment, a reception will be held in the Sisterhood Room of Temple Emanuel. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Emanuel, 280 May St., Worcester 01602.

Madeline Wise-Levin

Levin-Madeline (Komar) Wise, 96, of West Palm Beach FL, on March 19, 2013. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Wise and the late Maynard Levin. Devoted mother of Patricia, and the late David Strauss, Susan and her husband Joseph Miller, and Nancy and her husband Gerald Cutler. Grandmother of Carolyn, Arlene, Joanne, Emily, Elizabeth, and Jonathan. Also survived by 6 great-grandchildren, her brother Harold Komar and his wife Adelaide, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Madeline was a communications expert who kept family and friends connected, and gave sage advice to her daughters and loved ones with humor and wit. We feel grateful to have had many wonderful years enjoying our beloved Madeline. Services at Temple Israel, 477 Longwood Ave., (parking attendants on The Riverway), on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 10:30 am. Interment at Temple Israel Cemetery, Wakefield. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Madeline may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445, or the charity of your choice.

Devoted father of Jakob, Maxwell, Benjamin and Samara. Dear son of Larry and Arlene Fruman. Dear brother of Elyse Balder and her husband Bruce, and Andrew Fruman.
